we heard the 5:00 from someone who said their counselor said that, so we did not hear that from the admissions themselves. their facebook page says “late afternoon” but its about to be the night… and their office closed at 5…

@giterdone They have kept promises and have been very clear. We are all anxious and therefore interpreting things in our own way. They said they would START this afternoon. Over 20,000 applied for EA. You may not be in the first batch. I haven’t received my decision either. The only promise they have made is the decision would be released BY December 23rd. The only complaint I have is the Application Status link should be down because they claimed it would be while ALL the decisions would be posted.

if its 5 pm… itll prob be at 6 eastern time then

Just saying, I was looking through last year’s thread and decisions began trickling out during late night into the next morning. According to that thread, the decisions are released by a large server where everyone’s decisions are uploaded and gradually trickled out by that server in batches so that it does not crash like the websites that other schools usually use. So it’s possible that we will receive decisions tomorrow throughout the day, but I could be wrong! Last year the confirm email was released 12/13 and decisions began to come out 12/16… so if not by tomorrow, definitely by monday! Good luck to everyone else, hopefully we can all meet at Mich! :)

Yesterday Johns Hopkins released at 6:30 although they promised to relaease at 6:00.

“Raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by The University of Michigan.”

please tell me you guys get this…
keeping the mood light while we all freak out

@besjbo - Thats exactly what I said about an hour ago, and was “poo poo’d” for suggesting such a thing. But I agree with you. There are 19,000+ EA applicants NOT on CC.

ok thanks…were there multiple heads up emails or just the one

@xthatsme81

LOL. Just watched Mean Girls today.

Wait, if it’s just released by a server, is it possible the emails will come over the weekend?

Ann Arbor is in the eastern timezone though… so it would not be 6pm EST

Boy - Mich better hope I’m not offered admission anywhere else… I WILL MAKE THEM SWEAT until May 1st!!! :)

Yes.

10char

@giterdone Don’t worry, I won’t poo-poo you. But don’t feel like you’ve been mistreated, until you get a deferral. Then you can start throwing things.

@firesould17 Yes.

Patience everybody. The University of Michigan is not “playing games” or “mistreating” anybody. The admissions office is processing sensitive and important material to close to 25,000 applicants. Just so that you understand the scale, Princeton had 3,500 EA applicants and Chicago had 8,000. Michigan never made any promises save only one; that all EA applicants would receive a decision by the 23rd of December. That’s 7 days away. I realize the wait is agonizing, but the admissions office is doing its best.

I’m in! I got it!

Booo! I’m going to go see Sherlock Holmes. Peace everybody!! I’ll check back when I get an email.

they said they would start releasing today though

we realize this, but do you realize that they promised they would start to release decisions today in the ‘late afternoon’ and they have failed to do that. they should not make promises they cannot keep.

It would be much smarter and kinder for them to have either given an exact date, or just said nothing besides by the 23rd and then just surprised us. Telling us all a vague time and sending “They are coming SOON” emails just make everyone way more crazy and anxious. This is a really unthoughtful way of handling admissions.
