** Official Class of 2017 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

@afrojack i would miss my cat more than my family if i went to michigan haha it’s far for me.
@faiintx i’m in the same situation, but i feel like it’s worth it because Mich is such a good school

@faiintx: It sounds cliche, but…

1) Private scholarships. ■■■■■■■■■■ has actually been not a bad resource for me.
2) FinAid. Michigan will cover at least some of your costs.

I know even with those you’ll have money left over to pay; however, a Michigan education is valuable enough that the loan (should you have to take one out) is worth it.

Anyways, someone posted where else they applied, I’ll do so too:

1) Fordham (accepted EA, safety)
2) Michigan State (accepted EA, safety) (kinda hoping for scholarship $$ from these first two)
3) Boston College (deferred to RegDecision)
4) Michigan (EA)
5) Yale
6) Stanford
7) Duke
8) Columbia

With a 3.5 UW GPA, 20% class rank I know I’m reaching somewhat to some of these.

However, my school is fairly competitive, I have some awesome EC/hooks (I’m on a full-tuition paid scholarship to my high school that entailed leadership positions), took the most difficult course schedule possible (GPA is 4.0 W), and some good test scores (32 ACT, 2120 SAT, with an 800 in CritReading that I’m proud of); also, I would assume my teacher recs will be good, and my essays seem good too (I’m a strong writer).

Most of my weaknesses are in science/mathematical areas, and my strengths in communicative/social science areas, so I’m hoping the fact that the coherence among the app (i.e., my Math ACT is low, my math grades are low, my math SAT is low, but my English grade is high, my English test scores are high, my writing samples are good, I got a 5 on the AP Lang test) helps me stand out.

For Michigan specifically, I’m hoping that OOS vs. IS was the deciding factor. (In-stater here)

Sorry for regurgitating my entire profile here; I’m quite nervous. Michigan’s one of my top choices and one of my more realistic ones.

Hmm I’m still skeptical that anyone got their decision today since only one person says they have…

Anyone here LSA Neuroscience?

yeah, and i probably don’t qualify for need based FA…but oh well, only time will tell.

@faiintx i don’t think i qualify for FA either but we’ll see
i applied to
Rutgers (accepted)
Indiana University (accepted)
UMich
Villanova
UVA
UNC- Chapel Hill
NYU

so nervous for everything agh

@Hectic rationalization defense mechanism, I guess (AP Psych, anyone? Anyone?)? But yeah if I don’t get in here, I’m going to Ohio State for half the cost so I guess I can’t complain.

@littlemeow oh, I’m only 4 hours away… where are you from?

relaxin to some music

How can there be no heads-up email… This is chaos.

@afrojack new jersey … it’s awful. but if not Mich i guess i’d go to rutgers, i can’t complain it’s a quarter of the cost for me and i’m counting on at least a tiny bit of scholarship money. OSU?! the RIVALS. haha both my parents went to Mich so i was raised in a buckeye hating family

Is anybody here on reddit? Just curious.
And if you want to chill, listen to some Bob Dylan.

This is kinda late but applying to LSA Neuroscience! It’s hard to believe that they aren’t sending out “heads up” letters.
@afrojack AP Pysch FTW!

I think they will coem out Friday around 5pm

i’m watching Disney Channel movies LOL eddie’s million dollar cookoff! (if anyone remembers that)

Michigan EA
UPenn

Cornell
Tufts
Johns Hopkins
Pomona
William & Mary

Wash U

I’d be pumped to get in here so i wouldn’t have to worry about college any more

@littlemeow YOU’RE A LEGACY?! ahhh super jealous here right now. and yeah i’m from PA and the in-state costs are ridiculous for being in-state… i mean OSU would actually be cheaper for me, assuming i get this one scholarship. and actually my parents both went to Ohio State hahaha

Any fellow IB Diploma Candidates on this thread?!
http://dasd-sharepoint.dasd.org/Schools/STEMAcademy/Documents/IB_University_Acceptance_Rates.pdf

Can’t they just tell us already? They’re probably finished with all the applications anyway -_-

@afrojack haha honestly not sure how much it’s gonna help me, my gpa is awful. yeah but penn state is great too! hahaha oh no you’re an OSU legacy! at my school’s college fair i made the mistake of walking up to the OSU table and my parents gave me “the look” haha
