** Official Class of 2017 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

Praying got the victims and there families. While our lives are revolving around waiting for a college admission decision those kids never even made it to thinking about college…kinda puts a damper on the day. We should be happy we can apply to college and have a chance to go to a great school like UMich. Time to come back down to earth and know some things are more important than university admissions.

I’m from CT, this whole shooting thing is ****ed up.

The tragedy in Newtown: so very sad. Prayers for all involved.

Hello ladies and gents!
I am currently a freshman at Michigan and I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a Wolverine
You will be hearing this evening if you get in!
A girl in my sorority helped make this video for the CLASS OF 2017

Check it out

Word to the wise:
On Friday acceptances are mailed out for EA (as in today, the 14th)
If you do not hear back tonight you mostly are waitlisted or rejected and will hear back either Monday or Tuesday of next week

BEST OF LUCK and cannot wait to see you lucky freshman next year.

Additionally: If anyone has questions about the EA process feel free to ask!!
GO BLUE!!

What tiem should we be expecting emails? and are there only acceptances today?

and only differals and rejections next week?

Shady4pres:
In my experience, normally acceptances are emailed out first so this evening you should hear! I heard at around 7pm Central Time.
Some people heard around 5pm Central Time
In-state is normally sent out first.

@taz I messaged you!

Shady4pres:
Again, I know some people who received acceptances later the next week and others who got rejected on the Friday BUT the general trend is that acceptances are mailed out Friday, then waitlists then rejections.

Also about the waitlist:
I know some people who were waitlisted for 2 weeks and others for 2 months so do not give up hope and I believe when your application is waitlisted you can send in additional things like more recommendations or grades/awards/high honor roll. (Double check me on that please).

Sending out prayers for victims of the shooting.

Funny story I want to share too,
I know a boy who applied to Michigan Engineering OOS and EA and he was rejected BUT he got accepted into Cornell University which is obviously an Ivy. So whether you get in or you don’t I promise life has a way of working itself out.

Taz, this is not true. I just now talked to my neighbor-we were remembering last year when our 2 sons were admitted. My son got his e-mail from LS & A Friday-my neighbor’s son heard from Engineering on Saturday. So people in different schools had acceptance e-mails on Saturday. Also, many of my son’s friends who were deferred ended up getting in, so for those of you who get deferred don’t give up. And at least last year the deferred kids heard they had been admitted throughout January, February, March etc. It was not necessarily one day when all the deferred kids heard that they were admitted.

Also, technically I think at this point kids are deferred, not waitlisted.

What time should we hear?

@taz: I think they may have changed that, precisely because it was so transparent last year. I could be wrong though.

I go to Cass Tech ^_^

Also if you do get in, welcome to the best week of your lives!

shs1975, Exactly, the son heard about Engineering during the weekend when acceptances were still being sent out. Review my post, I said waitlist/deferences and rejections were sent out the Monday/Tuesday of the next week.

Cof2013, that would not surprise me, review my post, I said in my experience this is what happened.

Sorry taz I read it too fast-and there is someone else on here who keeps insisting that if you don’t hear Friday night you are deferred, I just don’t want kids freaking out! Good luck to everyone!!!
