[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Taking initiative, doing things because I want to do them and like what I do, not to get into college–getting into college was just a happy byproduct :)[/li][/ul]General Comments: Davis Scholar

jj - what do we have to do to sell you on Columbia? :)

haha particular reason you’re asking me? :stuck_out_tongue: I really, really love columbia–I liked the sense of vitality and energy I got from the student body when I visited, and SEAS is pretty awesome, but I’m 99% sure I’m going to MIT because I think it’d be a better fit for me. It’s a very difficult decision to make, but I’m more the type to build crazy 4 story tall trebuchets and stay up til 4 am discussing derrida and time travel, honestly. Also, I think I might have theoretical physics tendencies, and I hear transferring into the college might be a bit of a hassle, while at MIT I don’t really have to choose (although I think I’ll end up going for applied ultimately, I’d like to keep my options open and explore a bit). I would have been ecstatic to go to Columbia next year though, best of luck to everyone heading there next year, it looks like you’re going to have an awesome 4 years!

my first choice was MIT but i got denied. i would have given columbia up for it.

Decision: Deferred(Read: Heartbroken) and then… ACCEPTED!!

I give hope to all future applicants, just look at my lackluster stats and the way that I was deferred then accepted. And sorry for the rushyness and possible bad grammar and stuff, but I wrote this really quickly.

Other Factors: I can yo-yo!
Why do you think you were accepted? Cuz i’m one lucky son a gun =P But I guess I was kinda modest and thank God my councelor was not, and she strutted all my i guess personal abilities, self taught the piano, self taught singing(started at 15 years old, was HORRIBLE, lol), self teaching guitar, and yea, i’m quite an independent learner. I just realllyyy dont like homework. Anyways, above all, because I had ceaseless support of some great people at my school, I am sooo thankful. I mean I got accepted over about I think 5 other people who were all in the top 10%(most top 5), including the valedictorian, and they’re all great people.

General Comments: I feel slightly intimidated being accepted against such spectacular peers, and then going into a school with some of the most intelligent people in the world. Wow.

Future Columbia applicants, I represent hope.
