accepted! honestly in a state of shock
Finally the transfer process is over (or at least close). Congrats to everyone for being done with college apps pt 2!
Accepted, totally in shock!
I just want to advise everyone that this is going to be a long post!
Firstly, I GOT ACCEPTED! I am extremely excited! This is the ONLY school I applied to and the only school I have ever wanted to attend. Congratulations to all others that got accepted. To everyone that might have gotten wait listed or not accepted, it really takes a lot of time, effort, and (honestly) courage to put yourself out there and be vulnerable, so you all should feel accomplished and know this does not determine your future. I specifically wanted to post this reply because at first I was hesitant about applying to Columbia. I felt that because I hadn’t achieved my dreams the first time, I wasn’t meant to. The reason I applied is because I saw a post on the 2014 transfer thread that persuaded me to at least give it a try, so for any future applicants that might see this post, know that it is worth it!
My Qualifications/Information:
Current University: Top 50 Public University
Current GPA: 3.752
Current Major: Undeclared

I am not a business student), yearbook editor in high school, and I have a job
Intended Major (I will list majors as they appeared on my application): 1)English 2)Creative Writing 3)African-American Studies
Ethnicity (as this may have played a part in admissions): African-American/Black male
I also feel that my essays and letters of recommendation had a huge impact on my acceptance. Yes, I had somewhat of a “hook,” but most importantly, I tried to show who I really was, and that is my biggest advice to anyone applying in the future. I also only applied to Columbia, so I was able to specify the reasons I wanted to attend Columbia on my Common Application personal transfer statement which also could have helped.
Once again, congratulations to all that got accepted, and to all others good luck in your future endeavors! Furthermore, anyone reading this post in the future, know that no matter what, you have a fighting chance!
If anyone applying in later years ever needs help, etc. I am going to try as much as possible to stay active on this website, so message me with anything also I created an email account – columbiatransfer123@gmail.com. I cannot promise that I will be checking either 24/7, but I will definitely try to keep up with both!
Everyone have a great summer and good luck on all finals! I cannot wait to meet all other transfer!
steps off soapbox
Anyone want to create a facebook group? I want to get to know you guys!

hey is anyone accepted thinking of going to that lions den thing on may 28? i can’t find the website that was talking about it though, does anyone have a link?
i’m going to lions den
@cassat i’ll see you there then!
i just got off the waitlist!
congrats! did they email you or call you? are you going?
They called me but I’m sincerely hoping that it means I would get off the waitlist. Nothing is official until June 15 …
What do you mean? What did they say when they called you? If they told you that you got in, then you’re in.
He said that a position opened up and wanted to see if I was still interested in being on the waitlist. He also said that our final decisions are coming to an end. That was about it and I said I would still be interested
He never said that I was in… which bothers me. I guess I will patiently wait.
Sounds like good news to me man. I hope it works out for you. They have your number through the common application, yes?
I sent in a passionate letter and did everything I could, but I have not received a phone call Seems like an impending rejection for me then.
Don’t loose hope! I’m sure there are many admissions officers reading the applications. My assigned admissions officer may have decided to call those who would be accepted/or call just in general :). I’m sure giving a call or even another letter discussing your new achievements/advancements will definitely be beneficial!
