Volunteer/Community service: bout 25 hrs: tutoring, fundraising, performing with local organizations
Summer Activities: lots of dance (6-8 weeks), volunteering at a cancer research lab
Essays: wrote my common app about my relationship with ballet (described it as a supportive partner in ballet and referenced specific ballets)
Teacher Recommendation: Bio and Math teachers, I’ve had both for 2 years and have a very good relationship with both
Counselor Rec: a specific arts counselor that knows a lot about my ballet
Additional Rec: dance teacher from prestigious NY schools, and someone from the cancer lab
Interview: had it with a local alumni, we went to Starbucks and just talked about our interests, she had danced at the school I am currently at, it was pretty chill but I was terrified before hand</p>

Strengths: SAT scores, lots of difficult classes, high level of dedication shown to dance,
Weaknesses: Several A-'s and a B on my transcript, not too much community service, essay
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m honestly shocked that I got in because I feel like I’m an above average student but don’t really stand out. I visited Columbia for an arts-specific tour and go the impression that they were trying to expand their arts reputation. I think they wanted me for my skill and love of ballet.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Penn State University, University of Indiana (honors college too and Jacobs School of Music),
