Official Columbia University Early Decision 2016 Thread

Good luck tomorrow guys.

@mustangman

my interviewer was a guy who was in SEAS and did the same major that I want to go into (Financial Engineering). He said that I was the only one he interviewed this year for Columbia (he only interviewed SEAS applicants). He was nice, but there wasn’t a OMGINSTANTBFFLES bond or anything like I’ve seen some people say on here. He was rather…Asian, for lack of a better word. And he had this way of saying OK that made me feel like I said something wrong. It was only by the time he asked me about my hobbies that I realized that was just the way he talked, and not by any slipup on my part.

The hardest question he asked me was “If you could change anything in the curriculum for Financial Engineering, what would it be?” That was tough one for me because I didn’t expect it at all. I guess I was a bit unlucky that my interviewer did the same major I’m interested in because he grilled me about FE. It was pretty intense actually.

He didn’t tell me that I would be accepted at the end, and frankly, I’m glad he didn’t. He just told me about his experience about receiving his acceptance over the phone. And he told me that hopefully I could have an early Christmas surprise. I don’t construe that as him hinting that I would/should be accepted.

GACK. It’s already the 8th! 16(ish) more hours!

Best of luck to each and every one of you from the Cornell board :)

The countdown in the official decision page really freaks me out. Not only us applicants but also admission officers seem to have a penchant for dramatizing the situation.

I didn’t apply early to Columbia, but good luck tomorrow to everybody!

@redconfetti 2NE1 is my jam. Will also be my jam tomorrow. If accepted: blast “I Am the Best” If rejected: blast “Lonely”, “Hate You”, and “Go Away”

Good night everyone… I will wake up tomorrow… and come home to see results! Good luck, wish everyone the best…

Less than 12hrs. I’m so gonna die. Ahhhhhh!!!

Results thread is going up. PLEASE DO NOT POST UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN A DECISION. Stats only.

Guys. 10 and a half hours. My stomach hurts. D:

And I didn’t get an interview.

I can’t focus on my classes and have no appetite for the birthday treats y friends gave me… This decision needs to hurry!

I didn’t get an interview. :frowning: Surprisely there are extremely few to none columbia alumni interviewers around the location of my high school. There are a lot of harvard, yale, upenn, dartmouth, stanford, and duke alumni interviewers living in my area of houston.

I had an interview with a middle aged Russian woman from SEAS. Questions were like “What are your friends like? Favorite book? What career do you intend on doing? What do you like/dislike about your high school” etc. It was a little stiff at first but once I started asking her questions we started to click pretty well and it was pretty conversational. Lasted like an hour 15-which i guess is longer than usual? Idk. She didn’t tell me I would get in or anything, but seemed positive overall, lots of laughing, etc. Maybe 7 or 8??

Good luck ED applicants! I hope to see a lot of you awesome people on campus next year :)

Yeah, no interview for me either. But I’m not reading into it, because I live in the middle of nowhere, thus there’s likely few alumni in my area.

And now we play the (incredibly intense, day-long) waiting game.

6 hours 38 minuteesss

good luck everybody!

So I start watching HIMYM to pass time, right? And it just so happens to be the episode where Marshall has a party with his Columbia friends, and they freaking film it at Columbia.

WHYY

This will be the longest 6 hours of my life

No interview for me either. For some reason, I feel calmer today than I did the past couple days.

Good luck guys!
