Official Columbia University Early Decision 2016 Thread

That video may be flash-based… that might be a problem. I would ask one of our 2015-ers…

Ahhhhh. 28 minutes.

The video will start to play automatically as soon as you click the decision button.

oh here comes the panic. 22 minutes.

Honestly I was more nervous when I hit the submit button on my app. At this point we can’t change the outcome. There is a decision with our name attached to us already sitting in the Columbia computer system. That decision isn’t going to switch in the next 18 mins.

I don’t know if I interpreted the solution right, but I think the problem with Schrodinger’s cat would say that your decision would be made when you opened the internet link.

But yeah, @MontyP I agree. I was actually more nervous about submitting my app than I am right now for decisions.

Yeah, I keep telling myself the outcome has already been decided and I can’t change it at this point but I still am SO nervous! My stomach has had butterflies on and off all day. And I am also checking on my iPhone so I probably wont be able to see the video if Ive been accepted? And i’ll probably freak out about that.

I think Schrodinger’s cat dictates that we are simultaneously rejected, deferred, and admitted until we click on the link.

Only ten more minutes…

Good luck to everyone! I wish you all the best and I hope that even if you dont get in to Columbia you end up at a great school!

Hahaha I like that. Our personal timelines all split into three parallel universes when we press that button.

Lost

good luck guys

Good luck guys! I applied ED to Penn and find out my decision tomorrow but I’ll be in your position in exactly 24 hours and can totally understand what you guys are going through. Good luck to everyone and no matter what happens - we’ll all die eventually, so live life! Whatever the decision ends up being, you’re all awesome people who deserve the best and will end up somewhere perfect for you! :slight_smile: Having said that - just 8 more minutes left!!! (I’m freaking out for you guys lol)

@Panther, but that doesn’t make sense, does it? In actually atomic terms, are you saying that a said particle would be everywhere? I am sorry if that’s not what you mean. I am really into this kind of stuff, but I really don’t understand it very well.

These last few minutes are definitely the worst.

@jasminny absolutely.

I took a shower hoping it would eat up the normal 15-20 minutes. Of course it took more like 5-10. :</p>

4 mins, best of luck everyone. remember there’s more than columbia out there waiting after this day

@jasminny You are right. It’s a horrible count-down.

@MontyP: The three timelines thing reminds me of the best episode of Community ever made.

@free2rhyme: It really doesn’t make sense, but in reality the particle doesn’t actually gain energy or anything.
The idea that a particle can be two states at once is called quantum superposition, which really doesn’t make sense. That’s why there’s quantum computation and stuff.

Less than 2 minutes! THIS IS IT GUYS!
