Stats are up in another thread, and also on the Spectator. Fewer applicants applied this year (by a couple hundred)… but that’s all I remember. XD

605 accepted, 3088 applied. 19.6% acceptance rate, more brutal than in previous years. via Columbia Spectator.

The race to the bottom is so ridiculous. This essentially means that Columbia is shrinking its class size to maintain a stupid-high US College and World Report ranking, because people are stupid enough to believe that that ranking actually matters.

US College and World Report has actively made our lives worse.

To excited to post all myyy stats, BUT just a summary:
1810 SAT (lol), 3.12/5.00 weighted GPA, 3.22 unweighted.
ECs: 10 varsity letters (4 basketball, 4 football, 2 track). Captain 4 seasons.
(Athletic recruit.)
African American. Underprivlidged Racial Minority.

CLASS OF 2016 BABY!!! Can’t wait

^^Seems like a ■■■■■ who’s against Affirmative Action…

@Philliphassler: I feel bad for people who have nothing better to do with their time than try and make people angry at them and start a stupid fight with them. Not only is it extremely pathetic, its also kind of sad.

How much do y’all think it’s safe to let grades slip?

I would say no more than a letter grade to be safe, and try to keep everything in As and Bs? But meh, what do I know.

B- all the way

Just wondering if it was Columbia’s standard procedure to have the local admissions officer send accepted ED students a personal note. Anyone get one?

@itsthatime yes, I got one on Friday! It was sweet. <3

@brandnew3773 I couldn’t agree more. I may have my own beliefs on affirmative action, but trying to incite CCers against others based on lies is shameful. It’s no one here’s fault how college admissions are conducted.

^itsthatime,
I also got a letter from my admission officer. I was also wondering if it is the standard practice. Anyway I am happy to get letter. It is a nice gesture from Columbia.

After i got in cornell, i dropped 14 points in AP Economics (from a 93 to 79) and 5 points in AP Chem (from 85-80). The only class I went up in is AP Calculus because it’s the only class where completely stopping taking notes really doesn’t affect the grade at all. (for me at least)

Got an email from Class of '06 alum to schedule an interview a week after deferral. Sure it doesn’t mean much for the RD round, but it is better than NOT getting an interview.

Good luck to your daughter, Glido!

To those accepted: did you guys get anything else in the mail after the acceptance letter? I’m just wondering what I’m missing out on because I’m on vacation.

Happy holidays cc!

I got a personal letter from my admissions officer. Everyone gets one, and they personalize it with a note in pen on the bottom!

Wow, thanks. You’re awesome, columbiafan :-)

Happy holidays guys… let’s attempt to ignore all of the “~what you should know~” threads from upperclassmen who seem to think that it’s their duty to make us all hate the school before we get there.

^ bitter, cause all the posts seem to be either overwhelmingly (and almost fakely) positive, or RAWR COLUMBIA SUCKS RAWR

can you guys post your stats?
