Mustangman, I know exactly what you mean and you said it exactly as I feel it. As to columbiafan, although I am thinking about it constantly the first thing I made sure was that no matter what the decision I am going to move on and be happy. Preparing for the worst but hoping for the best has been my motto

I feel like I messed up my interview last weekend…now falling into the death pits of disillusionment, frustration, despair. Ok, not really.
But I’m so anxious about the results right now! @nebbalish i’m with you there! and im canadian too.

@sherriclue, just another perspective. It may be that they’re taking the time to personally get your file together as your situation (noncustodial with a parent not contributing anything) is a less common one. They may be taking extra steps to verify the information you put down on the CSS and in your extra documents, and to make sure (whether you get admitted or not) that everything is in order.

Either way, it’s certainly not a bad sign :)

@mustangman: but it’s not on the webpage forever! I’m sort of a sentimentalist and I wish I could get a real acceptance “letter”. Printing or screenshoting a webpage pales in comparison. On the other hand, I guess I’d prefer to get a rejection over the internet…

@neiro6 just to assuage your fears, you definitely get an acceptance letter in the mail. they just do it online also so you save a day or two or tearing your hair out, isn’t that nice of them?

I still don’t have a Columbia ID and the FA email I just received says my parent’s tax forms never got sent even though the tracking ID of the package says it was received by Columbia University… Ugh. Worrying so much right now. Does not having a CUID mean something is terribly wrong?

@confusedcanuck I called about my FA forms because we mailed them too and the email says Columbia hadn’t gotten them. They told me they were still processing them, and that I shouldn’t worry until a) the tracking system went up and they didn’t show up there and/or b) around Friday/next Monday. Forms that were mailed rather than faxed are getting processed a little slower it seems.

I never got an email with my columbia ID. I had to call the admissions office and some nice lady in Morningside Heights was more than happy to give it to me. I would advise you to do the same.

Alluding to Hamlet in reference to college admissions? That has to be a first :)

December 8th, it’s so soon, good luck everyone! I hope we all get in!!!

So my guidance counselor today told me that someone from Columbia Admissions emailed her and asked for my first quarter senior grades. Do you think is a good sign? Why would they ask for my senior grades now? I don’t really know how to interpret it; seems kinda neutral I guess lol.

They asked for my grades too. Have they asked for anyone elses? I confirmed with my counselor today, results will be out december 8th at 5PM

^
I think Columbia requires ED students’ first quarter senior grades if they become available by this time. An admissions officer mentioned it on the Columbia facebook page.

crap. i never got that call. does this mean that i’m already basically rejected? well this sucks.

my school is trimester and i attached my midterm grades for the first term when i applied. i’m assuming that would count as “first quarter” grades?

hey ceviche, I hope this question doesn’t come off as smug or anything, but why/how would your counselor know when columbia releases early decision results? Why would columbia contact your counselor?

Also, does anyone know if columbia releases its decisions by email or on their website?

@gildedmushroom
You get an email which contains a link to the admissions tracking website, I believe. This comes out some time before the decisions are released on the site in the evening.

BTW, everyone, the finaid site is up.

Thanks for answering my second question, neiro6.

Still waiting for some confirmation (beyond someone’s counselor saying so) that columbia’s early decision results come out on december 8. Not that a counselor is unreliable, just wondering if there’s more solid evidence.

I believe that the decision will be posted here:

https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=COL-U

However, I’m not 100% sure though

Noooooooo they didn’t ask for my first term grades ):

Does anybody know if them asking for our first quarter grades actually means anything? If your counselor is asked, does that mean that you’re likely to get in? If your counselor isn’t asked, does it mean you’re likely to be rejected?
