…Rejected. My application all together was terrible; I felt the entire time like I didn’t know why I was trying to graduate a year early from high school and jump into something way over my head, and I know it showed in my essays. I don’t feel like posting stats because they’re just plain silly.

Anyway, I decided I made a mistake in trying to get out of high school early, so I’m staying an extra year. Going to try again next year, I think, and attempt to look at more than just Caltech and CU-Boulder (a place I don’t want to be).

Don’t understand why you’d apply to a place you don’t want to be. There are other options that you should explore to apply to places where you DO want to be–there are over 3000 schools to choose among, surely some of them will want you & be attractive to you.

Why was I rejected: I am not surprised that i was rejected, I am just not up to the standard.

I will try to transfer there later. Caltech is my dream school, and will forever be!!!

Sometimes, I wish I stayed in high school… Like, now… To see where I would have ended up in this process. Of course, an acceptance one year might be a rejection another.

Well, I was just accepted to Harvard, which I’m thrilled about. Unfortunately, because of a committment I made in a letter a few months ago, I have to enroll there- meaning I have to give up one hell of a school.

Thanks anyway to everyone who helped answer my questions!

BlueElmo
Waitlist has varied from 5 to 50 or so in last few years. Look up some of the old threads. Be sure to send a note (e-mail) about your accomplishments since you applied, your desire to matriculate at Caltech, and possibly additional recommendations.
good luck!
