I must stick my head in the doorway- as a parent whose daughter is a rising senior ( finally). We live about 350 miles away and I visit Reed several times a year- often with my now 14 yr old daughter in tow. I have attended a few parties ( put on for Chinese New year & Cinco de -Mayo to name two)- and I have never even noticed large amounts of substances- if indeed any at all, they seem to stick to a different part of campus apparently and while I don’t doubt that they have some drug and alcohol use going on somewhere- as virtually any college or high school in the US does, but unlike some schools who depend on substances to lubricate the social scene, Reed located as it is in a major city- always has alternatives to depending on alcohol as a party requirement- in any case- Reed will kick your butt when you are sober and if you party too often you most likely wouldn’t be able to keep up with your work.
