Official Decisions

lol oh man, I just read pixies response. you’re only fueling the fire of contempt burning inside of brinestorm! he is going to pounce on that! lol

Yes, my posts are as serious as death. Proof.

oh so this is a guy is it?
lol, that’s even worse!

ah, whatever, this is getting boring. and i don’t want to argue with this pathetic boy.

on my side about what? i am so confused. people take things way too seriously.

okay thank you for agreeing with me? i just had no idea what you were saying or point you were making by the way you worded things.

i’m hypocritcal? i didn’t want to misinterpret, that’s why i wanted you to clarify what you meant?

LoL anyways i thought i did well on the Verbal section of the SAT apparently not well enough --what does contention mean?

it means like to compete and strive to win in a debate/argument … just like what brine is doing…

oh damn it all to hell. we all got into college!

hahaha i know! and i’m going to my fave college! whatever, don’t care.
there will always be people like brine, you just have to be wise enough to avoid them.

Yes, silver_wavez, MTV is calling your name. You’ve gone and worked that little brain of yours too hard.

“Yes, silver_wavez, MTV is calling your name. You’ve gone and worked that little brain of yours too hard.” - ***… you’re just a very strange person… what ARE you talking about…?

exits this stupid argument

I don’t want to stoop down to your level anymore brine… have fun trying to justify your superior existence and trying to mask your insecurities…

she’s going to barnard brine. or are chicago students so elitist that they think barnard is too “mtv” to be considered intellectual and prestigious?

hmmm, after losing endless battles in rhetoric, I’d have to say silver_wavez won the war on that painfully accurate conclusion…

Seems my e-time has been wasted.

besides…what’s wrong with MTV?

LoL

ok last post on this whole silly matter.

i personally don’t care about “elitism” and “presitge” and what not… but whatever… brine can think/do/say whatever he bloody wants… doesn’t concern me.

i’m confident with myself and i don’t need to justify or prove myself to some insecure prick.

i know you don’t need to prove yourself silv, but i’ve gotten to know you outside of CC as well–and since this IS CC, where everyone seems to measure their intelligence/worth/success by what college they get accepted to. Let me just tell people where you’ve gotten in. Barnard, Claremont Mckenna, NYU, Boston College, Occidental, and waitlisted @ Wellesley.

Yes people in this generation can enjoy MTV and be intelligent too! surprise surprise

:) Aww, thanks pix!!

I don’t see what’s wrong with MTV either hahaa!! Oh well… at least we know how to have fun and work hard at the same time!

brinestorm, you are hilarious–in no way am i taking sides :-)

best of luck to those who have yet to receive decisions. and congrats to all–even the rejects.

bfjava - the bio dept. at UT is awesome! Realize that a lot of those undergrads go on to UT med which is more than awesome! So they really give them the foundation they will need for the med school later on. Honors program? If so, it will match anything else out there. Am from TX and UT is our signature school.

Am a mother of D still waiting. This thread has truly become irrelevant. A true intellectual (as any UofC student should be) knows that being aware of the world around them makes someone knowledgeable and a better part of society than someone that ignores popular culture and current events. My D was Quiz Bowl captain for 4 yrs, and along with questions about chemistry, math, lit, etc., were questions about SNL, MTV, etc. As well as being a true scholar, she loves pop culture, and is very aware of the world around her. More power to her! It is not good to be single-minded, but better to be well-rounded and love what you study and to learn in general. You might actually be able to have a discussion with those lesser mortals at cocktail parties as you represent your company someday. The intellectual Mt. Olympus makes for a great deal of loneliness. And you might actually learn something from someone who enjoys all that life has to offer. So, go for it - add some fun to your life, too! It is medically proven that a laugh or enjoyment is the proverbial apple a day.

Well said, evitajr. This thread is really deteriorating from its true purpose. My daughter also attends UChicago and is is also interested in pop culture. Knowing what is going on in the world today, and what references/experiences your peers can relate to, is a big part of fitting in with society. Plus, it saves you from being an intellectual grind that is no fun to be around. Frankly, if UChicago adcomms read this thread they might be appalled by the immaturity and just plain mean-spiritedness of some acceptees. Can we stop insulting each other now and move on?
