Deferred early action, accepted on Wednesday! LSA-political science
Californian, smidge of American Indian, 3.9 unweighted GPA, 30 ACT, class president four years, hella volunteer work, club swimming, volunteer at my church group, served as a House of Representatives Page in Washington, DC for a semester, school volunteer work, clubs and intramural sports, and nanny for three years.
Wrote one of my essays about how my epilepsy hasn’t stopped me from all that I have accomplished and achieved in the past three years.

Someone said something about EA hearing back from RD sooner, and I think that’s because they’re releasing waves of EA decisions; according to my admission’s counselor they separated the deferred EA applicants into basically in but need more time, pretty close, and still not sure categories, so I think they’re making decisions as more RD apps get reviewed. When was the RD deadline?

Oh and one of my friends who applied early and got deferred hasn’t heard back, but I have, and another friend who applied RD has heard back, but another hasn’t.

My son from NY was accepted on Thursday. 2100 SAT. High Scool does not rank. GPA. 3.88 waited out of 4.0. Lots of EC. No subject tests. Great recs and community service and work experience. Was deferred in EA pool. Already gave deposit

I’ve been checking mine, nothing so far. I’m a bit anxious about the possibility that we may not hear back until mid-April, considering that would only leave two weeks to go visit campus before having to make a decision… Doesn’t really make sense.

I got deferred in December EA and still haven’t heard a decision yet. I submitted a follow up letter and a couple other things to ecredentials@umich.edu but did not get a confirmation. I’ve emailed my admissions counselor several times and only gotten one not very helpful response, and recently she hasn’t responded for the past month. This is really making me nervous especially since only acceptances have heard thus far so rejections they are probably waiting till the end of the month to release.

We are in MD and I know lots of kids with great stats who were deferred in December and still have no answer. I understand they have lots of apps to read but it is starting to border on ridiculous! How are OOS kids supposed to make travel plans if they don’t have an answer until mid-April? Just deny or admit them at this point - those apps have been there a LONG time.

I got Letter 2, and it seems like I’m one of the few people who did. But I did get accepted last week after my deferral in the EA pool. So don’t worry guys! Hang tight and Go Blue!

But here are some of my stats:
ACT:33
School: Math and Science School for Junior and Senior year. Public school Freshman and Sophomore year. Public school had ranks and GPA but Math and Science school did not.
GPA: 4.0 for first two years
Rank: 1st for first two years
EC’s: Band (leadership team sophomore year, All-State Band)
Volunteering and lots of it.
Essays: Ehh… Not too great…
Recs: Didn’t see.
Course Load: Mostly college level courses except for History and English. Classes like Organic Chem and Microbiology.
Race: Asian -_-

I would say; if money is no object? then by all means, wait it out. But if you are OOS, waiting on an acceptance AND a decent FA package needs to be part of the equation? start thinking about someplace else.

I was deferred ea 5 days after all the acceptances started coming out. Now I’m nervous that because all the acceptances came out last week that this will be bad news for me
And yes it’s super aggravating also because I don’t want to make plans to visit other schools during my spring break if I get accepted!
Mehhhhhhhh soo frustrated

I got deferred back in December. Is it true that you can get deferred again in April? How does that work out if you have to let your college know by may 1?

After checking similar threads for UMichigan last year, most students who hadn’t heard back by now were notified 5 days before the deadline to commit May 1st. The majority of those students were not given the decision they were hoping for; most were wait listed. Multiple waves of acceptances have gone out, if you havent heard back yet, it may be time to begin getting excited about some of your other acceptances. I am speaking as a former Michigan hopeful and personally, I don’t want to attend a school that will take this long to decide that they will take me only after they have invited everyone else to attend and happen to have an extra spot left…it will be UT or a UC for me !

Sorry what I meant to write in my last post was if your waitlisted how does that work? You have to give you decision by may 1st. So would you give your deposit to that school and then withdraw it if a spot opens up?

Is it true that most people who got accepted have already been accepted? i.e. admissions decisions sent out from now on will probably be waitlisted/rejected?

I’m gettign really nervous about decisions in general. I’m one of those people who needs much time to decide something - If I were to be accepted at UM, I would have to make a decision fast!!! I hate rushing decisions.

However, since I haven’t heard back yet, I’m not expecting good news anyway…
