[</em>] Job/Work Experience: I worked at a camp as a counselor in training for autistic children in the summer and got paid the summer before 12th grade for 1 week
[<em>] Volunteer/Community service: I worked as an unpaid junior counselor the summer before 10th grade
[</em>] EC short answer (subject and personal opinions on it):I just talked about cheerleading, I don’t think it was that great but it wasn’t awful.
[<em>] General Essay (subject and personal opinions on it):It was about my disabled twin brother and how he can’t talk, but I did it through talking about my response to this one event when I was a little kid watching this Christmas movie. It’s hard to describe but I promise it wasn’t cliché. It focused on a single event and didn’t turn into a sob story…although it made my mom and chemistry teacher cry when they read it.
[</em>] Second Essay (subject - and personal opinions on it):My why Duke essay was pretty specific and my second essay was a fairly short description of my research experience. I talked about how I worked as an intern the summer before senior year at Old Dominion University focusing on algal biodiesel and how I wanted to continue research at Duke as an undergrad.
[<em>] Teacher Recommendation (only if you saw it):I did not see my recommendations from my English teacher or Biology teacher, but my counselor said they were incredible.<br>
[</em>] Counselor Rec (only if you saw it):I didn’t see it but I’m sure it was good.
[<em>] Additional Rec (only if you saw it): I asked my chemistry teacher to write the additional optional letter that Duke asks for in the supplement, and I think that letter was very good.
[</em>] Interview:[/ul] It literally could not have gone better. The guy was really cool and really nice and we had a really great conversation about a bunch of random things.</p>

<p>Reflection</p>

<p>[ul][ <em>]Strengths: I took an extremely difficult course load, I never took a study hall until senior year and instead replaced my study hall with Music Technology in 9th grade, Marine Biology in 10th grade, and AP Environmental science in 11th grade.
[</em>] Weaknesses:My Bs in math.
[*] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/ul] I’m still so shocked I got in…I think they must have liked my essay, recommendations, and my difficult course load.</p>
