General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to NEU…?: Did anyone else get deferred or rejected with similar stats? Is there something they were looking for that I didn’t have? What do you think chances are for regular admission and hopefully merit $?

That is weird. I saw people in your thread saying you were treating it as a safety. Based on your stats, it doesn’t look that way to me. It’s not like you’re one of those perfect scoring students. I would think NEU is a good match for you.

Dramski- I just got deferred from Northeastern today, and my statistics are pretty similar to yours actually. I just have more extracurriculars, and I’m a first generation american/first generation college student. I don’t understand why they rejected me. Is it because their regular decision admissions have a stronger pool of students?

Is there hope that they will actually re-consider me in the next batch of admissions, or should I just move on from this school?

They probably deferred you because of “Tufts Syndrome” (Where overqualified applicants get deferred or rejected because they are using a school as a safety.) The best way to get an acceptance is writing a letter to them explaining that you are seriously considering Northeastern for college.

Flipper- Thank you so much for the advice, I will write them a letter explaining that I have quite the fondness for their school. I love the co-op program.
