OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

if I want to defer, do I respond yes to the question that I will attend the class of 2014?

i was accpeted but need to take a year off

You respond that you attend the Class of 2014 and then you send the admissions office (I think it was Dean Diane McKoy in the past) a letter or email requesting a deferral for a year and why you want it (what you will do during that year). Later on in the spring they will send you the formal respnse. Then next year you need to send them another letter or email saying you will join the Class of 2015.

I’m actually surprised I was deferred, because of my SAT score. I retook it a few weeks ago, so I’ll update that score, and we’ll just see what happens. Congratulations to everyone who made it!

@cberkowitz, it’s not your SAT scores entirely, because I had lower scores than you all around and I got in…

I was surprised, but definitely ecstatic. I think it’s a major misconception that you have to have near perfect scores for them to consider you.

Hey for those of you accepted do you want to meet up tomorroww? We need toget details later of course but first we need to get some ppl that can come!

“Hey for those of you accepted do you want to meet up tomorroww? We need toget details later of course but first we need to get some ppl that can come!”

sorry my mom told me not to meet up with people I only met on the internet…haha

Congrats to everyone from the Yale SCEA-ers!!

and jive87;; yeah my parents would never let me get together with people that I only met on the internet lol

Meeting people from the internet is only dumb if YOU are dumb! So be smart. And don’t talk to weird people on the internet in the first place. No one in here is that weird in my book.

WOAH WHY AM I STILL HERE? I was rejected! I’m gonna be like that one girl who went to Harvard even after she was rejected!

Accepted? Congrats!

for those of you that did, how did you guys get you finaid packages already? when i go onto my financial thing it just shows me my documents could it be that because my tax form says incomplete or the fact that I have not given my deposit? oh, and how many other people didn’t get a package?

Acceptance letters and financial aid packages were sent express mail, or at least to me. If you go to financial aid website, and sign in twice, once to get into site, and then again to get to actual personalized information, you will see tabs on top. One tab is 'award" If your documents were incomplete, they should have sent you an email or letter and you need to provide the documentation they request, before any award is determined.

Hope this helps.
