Agree, at least with the latter part. I’m thinking maybe history wasn’t a strong subject at his high school. It’s interesting to see such easy dismissal of “brutality” and “bloody revolution” paired with the position that recreational hunting and fishing should be banned completely. I also look forward to the reception a physicist will receive from economists on his offer to run the world economy by computer, thus eliminating corruption from the system and allowing “every individual” to “pursue whatever they want… without needing to be concerned with paying bills.”</p>

Don’t confuse reactions with “making people think.” If what your audience thinks (for example) is, “sheesh, what a nutter,” that may not be an indicator of your success. But you may be happy to know that you’ll find plenty of kindred spirits in the student body at Mudd, and elsewhere in academia.</p>
