Hey guys, found out I’m in the California Cohort. Anyone else in that one? I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet.

Yes, you have to answer both UC prompts and were limited to about 1,000 words for both. If I remember correctly they allowed a little room to go over. I think I had like 1015 or something. Also, you can choose to devote more to one than the other. I think had about 600 words for one prompt and 400 for the other.

I’m also in the process of trying to figure out housing. I’ve lived on my own for 2 years now and have gotten quite used to having my own room, queen bed, and privacy, so the transition is going to be a little weird. Ideally, I would like a single room in on campus housing because I want the “social jumpstart” that it offers rather than some apartment off campus.

It seems that staying in one of the Units rather than the apartments offered by Cal is even better because they are more social. But, with that said, looking at Channing Bowditch just now has me really wanting to stay there. I have yet to find more info, but the single rooms looked really nice. I think I may have to just warm up to doing a double since singles are so sparse.

I have no clue what I’ll do for roommates. Another Haas student would be freakin sweet! I have a buddy I graduated high school with who is in the engineering program but he’s now living off campus and pretty much doing his own thing.

Also, since most of us are ~20 yrs old, I don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of freshman that will want me to buy them drinks or something. (Although I’m sure some of the freshman girls will be tempting =P).

Gah, I’m finding that just the housing aspect of all this is very time consuming. I need to do some more research and personal reflection on what I REALLY need and what I can compromise on, even if just for my first year.
