**Official Georgetown University Transfer Thread 2009**

must have been very competitive this year cause i didnt even get waitlisted even though i got into UNC and Vandy (sophomore transfer). maybe the fact that i withdrew from a class, cause i was frankly too bored to continue the course, effected my decision haha

again for those interested in the chat site:

I need some advice. I just got back 5/6 of my final grades and am wondering if I should submit them to Georgetown to help my application.

A-Honors Seminar (Clash of Civilizations? Talked about the Middle East, had to write papers etc)
A-Design I (art core credit)
A- -Cosmology (science core credit)
A- -Comparative Politics: Developing States
B- -Intro to IR (taught by a professor that was a former research fellow, International Security Program at Harvard. was a very good teacher but very challenging)
?- East Asian Civilization (expecting an A-)

I’m not sure if I should send them in or not because of the IR class grade. Any opinions?

well, if you got a B-, then don’t send it in.

ahh this wait is killin me

I thought we were to be told today?

no mail on sundays lol

Does anyone know about how many transfers MSB takes? Is it one of GU’s more selective schools?

Jamesc90: I thought you had to submit finals grades…?

So I saw this article in the NY Times this morning. Scroll to the bottom, which reads that GT has not yet filld its freshman class. While it has no direct bearing on us, if the trend is not just with freshman admission we could have better luck.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/11/education/11college.html?hpw

Also, for those of you who were “admitted” online, were you told that you were accepted or “likely be admitted or at the least waitlisted” ?

Accepted to SFS by letter in the mail today.
Still in shock.

So, I called Georgetown, and they said Georgetown transfer students don’t have the option to transfer from the College to SFS. I have no idea why I thought SFS was a grad school when I applied. Big regret.

Congrats, Rosa.

I just called GTown’s admissions office and spoke to someone about my transfer app. He said that they sent out the first round of acceptance letters - I needed to find out my status so I can move forward with my acceptance to Columbia. He offered to look up my app and he said that they didn’t get to it yet but he was able to get me a “leaning answer” (which direction they are leaning to) and he said it was more than likely a NO for me. So, give them a call and tell them you need to reply to another school and you will get your answer.

I find it funny that I get accpeted to UPenn and Columbia, both Ivy League schools, but not NYU or GTown. Interesting… anyone have insight to that one?

Did you get an email with your decision? I’m international and the letter will take weeks. Are they sending out emails at the same time as acceptance letters?

Sherlock12: I didn’t get any email with mine. I’m wondering now if they’ll even send some sort of packet…you know, to give some info about the school?

dszaf: Whoa Columbia and UPenn? That’s quite formidable. Congrats! As to why you didn’t get into NYU, that’s a complete mystery. I don’t think they are need-blind admissions though. Maybe that’s it? What school within did you apply to?

How did you hear from UPenn already? I heard their decisions come out on the 15th

I just got accepted to SFS today!! Good luck to those still waiting!

hey rosa and chris, glad to hear you both got in! Maybe you could post your stats for the rest of us SFS hopefuls?

again, here’s a site to come talk about this stuff on:

just got my acceptance to the college today!!
