the college
I got a letter in the mail saying that I got onto the “extended waitlist” :/

MaybeLater, when did you receive that letter, and do you mind telling us what it says (about your chances and when you can expect to hear for sure)? Thanks

I received it on the 13th

It basically says sorry (as usual - lol) and that “The Committee was only able to consider a very small number of candidates on the Waiting List so far this year, and most candidates have been informed that it will not be possible to consider their applications further. In a few cases, such as yours, the Committee has offered candidates the opportunity to keep their names on an extended Waiting List in the event that a space may become available through attrition. While at this point we cannot predict the number of spaces that will become available, we hope to be able to use this extended Waiting List. The Committee will review candidates again as spaces become available and will send final word no later than August 8th.”

I guess that means that some people WERE in fact taken off the waitlist already.

It does not say how many people are on the extended list…

good luck @Down4Gtown! I hope it’s better news for you than it was for me.

Received the letter today, not on an extended waitlist if there is one for SFS. Best wishes.

^ i’m sorry :/

anyone else out there on the extended waitlist?

I am currently at a 2 year college and have a 4.0 and with researching the school felt that I had a pretty good chance of getting in. I have been out of high school for 5 years now so I am exempt from SAT/ACT tests, but not high school transcripts. I underwent a traumatic experience in high school leading to PTSD and had to go to homeschool. I fell so far behind that I took the CHSPE test to finish high school so I could focus on my health. So not only would my transcripts be awful, I didn’t even graduate and I know that while the proficiency test is the equivalent to a diploma in all respects in CA, it is not in other states. Since then I have done very well getting my life back on track to pursue better opportunities but do you think this completely ruins my chances??

I am in love with georgetown but am now considering GW since they do not require hs transcripts… Any ideas?

Hello,
I am currently a sophomore studying in Korea at a 4-year university and considering of transferring to Georgetown
I have several questions

(1) Picking transfer applicants, what does Georgetown mostly look at? SATs?Essays?GPAs? I know all is important, but which one of these do they look at the most?

(2) Does Georgetown have a lot of course for undergraduates majoring in law?

(3) How does my chance look of getting accepted?

Current college GPA: 4.21
SAT score: 1850s

Thank you so much!

^ I am from Korea and I understand law is an undergraduate major in Korean universities, but there is not a law major in American undergraduate institutions. You major in something else, take the LSAT, and go to law school, which is a graduate school. Also, American GPAs are on a 4.0 scale.

Edit: are you trying for spring admissions or did you have a gap year/semester? Wouldn’t you have more than two years of college by the time you enter Georgetown? Clarify that with Georgetown.

Thank you for the reply~

I thought that Georgetown only accept transfer students for the Fall semester

This is all new to me, so I do not know where to start or what to ask…
haha

I am just lost ^^

Thanks for the help~
