Official Harvard 2011 Transfer Thread

I LOL’d.

Who else are you waiting on, carrot?

… Why did I not get an email. I definitely checked the box that said I wanted to get an email…

Check your spam filter?

^ It’s not there… Seriously, something is not right.

smarts, I didn’t receive an email either, and I’m 100% sure I opted for decision by email.

Swaggerer: Hmm, did you get your access code before this? I never got mine, but when I called the admissions office, they said they had everything…

Lmao. Carrot, you’re the best. :)

Yes, I got my code shortly after submitting my app, and the website said they received all my materials.

This is bizarre.

Rejected - I told myself that I didn’t care what the decision was but … I’m not too disappointed, just confused. Congrats to those who were accepted.

My daughter, a freshman at Vanderbilt University, who was wait-listed last year, and who founded a very successful not-for-profit three years ago, which is still going strong, and is a legacy (although my husband gave no money) was accepted tonight! She is over the moon!!!

@OutHere- Best of luck with Yale and Swarthmore, and huge congrats on making the wait-list cut at Harvard. As you surely must know, that’s an incredible achievement, whether or not you actually end up with a final offer-- although I’m not sure I would want to go to a school that would send such a cruel and unusual email to another applicant…
I’m waiting on Stanford, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and Amherst. As of right now it’s looking like I will be a Trojan (USC), but this next week should wrap everything up and make the final decision for me.

@goingforanobel- Why, thank you. I do aim to please. I just don’t appear to please Harvard… lol

@smarts1 and SwaGGeReR- This may not be the issue, BUT when I applied to Harvard I checked the box on the Common App stating that I wanted to receive my decision by email. However, when Harvard sent me the email asking to verify my name, address, etc., etc., BEFORE going to the app status page (it was the page you went to in order to set up your app status account, or something like that), I very carefully checked the listed information, making sure everything was capitalized correctly and so on, and I noticed that next to “receive decision by email” it said “no.” There were instructions on how to change that, so I did, and then when I returned to the page it said “yes.” Do you two know what I’m talking about? Is it possible that this could have happened to you, but you were unaware or unable or…whatever…to change it to “yes”? I don’t know, just a theory.

To the precious few admits, congratulations on your success, and I will be contacting you for high-powered favors in the future. ;)

CTC,

The same thing with the app status page happened to me. I checked receive decision by email on my Common App supplement, but the Harvard status page listed NO beside receive decision by email. So I had to manually change it to yes–this is why I remember it so clearly.

^ well then, crap sandwich, I have no idea. :frowning: Hmmm… I hate to say you’re stuck waiting till Monday…but unfortunately, that’s probably the case. I’m really sorry, that sucks.

gahhh I purposely asked them to NOT send me my decision via email bc it’s finals week and I didn’t want to be distracted so I was hoping the rejection letter would just get sent to my house and by then I would have already taken my exams, but to my surprise I found an email from Harvard…I know it’s a rejection, but I just really don’t want to read the bad news before my finals. I’m on my 50th hour of no sleep yayyy college

I didn’t receive my email yet…
I don’t remember selecting an email option, however, I would never choose to have my decission sent by mail…
Does anybody know where I can find which option I chose?

^ It was on the common app supplement.

Anyways, can the accepted/waitlisted people still sign into their status page?

@smarts1 Thank you very much!
I checked and I asked it to be emailed… I don’t know what happened.
I’ll probably send the admissions office an email

^ Yeah, I have the same problem. I sent them an email…

Lol well I didn’t receive an email but I can’t log into the app status site…and I think we all know what that means :(
