thanks! that makes sense now
Wish I saw this before hand lol oh well. Ill use this for penn

He made me full out a pre-interview resume before getting there with basically everything- academics, class rank, ECs, AP score,

Harvard interviews seem so much more…rigid. None of my other interviewers ever asked about scores or anything, they were really interested about me as a person rather than scores and awards. Now I am kind of worried, well I nay not be contacted for an interview anyway.:D

Hi guys! Do any of you have an estimation of how many applicants applied this year through RD?

I’m anxious for my interview! This form really helped.

Guys I understand how you feel, but relax haha! I applied SCEA to Harvard, so it was the first ever college interview I’ve gotten. By far, my Harvard interview was the best compared to the one’s I’ve gotten so far from the other Ivys and MIT
From what I hear, the interview can only hurt you if you bomb it, but if it’s really good, it won’t significantly help you either, since the interview isn’t worth very much.

My decent interview didn’t stop me from deferred, come SCEA decisions
Your academic stats are still really important, and then your EC’s.

my school friends got their interviews but i haven’t yet. i know i submitted my app earlier than one of them. should i be worried? (toronto btw, so i don’t think it’s a problem of lack of interviewers)

I just got my interview, and I wanted to say, relax! I was very nervous before (I swear I was shaking a little bit especially when my interviewer did not show on time).

When s/he first came in, s/he was very friendly, and we made small talk while getting in line. S/he offered to buy me a drink, and I gladly thanked him/her.

I was very surprised by how the interview went. It was very smooth and conversational. S/he never asked me any trick questions, where else I am applying, or the “Why Harvard?” question. We mostly talked about my passions and his/her experience at Harvard. It was very informational on both sides. The conversation flowed and was full of laughter, and I think we both had a really great time. S/he had mentioned in the email that the interview would last around 30-45 minutes, but we ended up speaking for an hour. I brought a resume and printed out the pre-interview form just in case but s/he said s/he didn’t need it.

Good luck, everyone, and feel free to ask me detailed questions about the interview (I didn’t want to give my identity away here). :)

Has anyone else yet to receive their verification email from Harvard? I procrastinated and waited until the last day to apply, but I submitted the materials before the deadline. I still haven’t gotten an email telling me they’ve gotten my materials and it’s been roughly two weeks.

Patience is a virtue.

I agree, tests results appear to be the ultimate deciding factor…

That really doesn’t seem too bad if ya put it that way one acceptance for every 20…

well i just got deferred from uva so i dont think im getting in to harvard lol…

Not if you spell “into” that way your not…;)

Well yeah, but good thing i didnt apply to harvard on my phone :p

Test results are most certainly not the deciding factor. If you have a 29 on the ACT, yeah, that’s not going to help, but having a 36 over a 35 will make no difference, at least from what I can tell.

For RD we are looking at something close to one out of thirty three. It truly is a lottery

@LovingHarvard says the one who can’t spell “you’re”

Exactly. ;)

I had a really positive experience at my interview.

Hi guys! I am an international applicant from India.
Any international applicants here? Were any of you interviewed yet?
I do know that there is a Harvard alumnus in my city…and that is making me all the more paranoid since I have received no emails from Harvard regarding interviews.
Any suggestions?

Also, I was just wondering…what additional essay topics did you guys choose? I wrote a letter to my roommate and it was almost 900 words
and pretty informal. Would that hurt?
