Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2018 applicants thread

@diddly123 I love the Amity Affliction! My favorite to help relax is Parkway Drive though. It seems weird but I go to sleep listening to them :p

My portal says “Early action decisions will be e-mailed to the address on record Friday, December 13 at 3:00pm EST. Letters to admitted applicants will be mailed that morning.”

Do you guys think they’re saying that admitted students will receive their decision in the morning or that they’re mailing a physical letter to them?

admitted students will receive a physical letter that is being put in the mail Friday morning. everyone will receive an email at 3pm with their decision.

They mean they will mail a physical letter via the USPS to admitted students in the morning. Admitted students will also find out via email at 3pm EST.

@napsfordays oh my god i hope we both get in so we can listen to good music together! lmao but i haven’t gotten much of a chance to listen to parkway drive but i will asap! my favorites by the amity affliction though are greens avenue and anchors :D

and i can totally get falling asleep to screaming, it’s oddly calming! i listen to it whenever i’m stressed/mad

My life right now…AP Government. Just 26 more hours!

lol im in AP bio and freaking out. i had Gov earlier today and was absolutely killing myself

What oldgrad 92 said is right. The school sends out decision letters in the Friday morning, so you won’t get it by Friday morning (even if you live right next to Harvard Admission office).

Now I’m not gonna check College Confidential until I get the decision… It makes me more nervous. But I’m not sure I will manage not to come here again. lol

Out of curiosity, how was your guys interview with the harvard alumni? I decided to write a thank you a note for interview? Is that a bit too much?

No it’s common courtesy

I have begun to warm to the concept of a deferral. It is a soft rejection that allow me to keep my head up and keep moving

@Yoskis don’t set yourself up for failure you never know! Don’t have doubts now when you put so much time in your common app, essays and everything else always stay positive because now you are getting your decision tommorow, and if you are deferred or rejected, why stress about it? There are other good schools out there!

Now, Yoskis is right, it’s best to assume you are going to get a deferral so that you may be pleasantly surprised but not disappointed.

Setting yourself up for failure isn’t a good approach in life. But I think it’s ok in this case

Less than 24 hours everyone! Good luck!

I think we all should try to be realistic about it–this is Harvard, after all.

But that said, last year 18.4% of SCEA applicants were accepted. Roughly 1 in 5 people got in. It’s far from impossible. Almost all of us are qualified, almost all of us are going to do amazing things with our lives no matter where we end up. I’m honored to have even applied to the same school as some of you.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow (and for those of us who get deferred/rejected, with any future college decisions).

Ok, I am new to this, but I am confused. My son applied for early decision at Harvard but he thinks the notices go out Sunday the 15th. Are you sure it is tomorrow? And do they come like, after midnight, or 8 am or throughout the day?

I thought they were emailed.

13th @ 3pm, decision sent by email.

By pleasantly surprised you mean freaking out.
