I live in the northeast. Last february i only went to school about 4 full days due to snow

@clumsy456 @calliemoon11: I love that idea too, although I don’t know if it should just be limited to accepted students! Everyone on this thread is so amazing, and I’d like to “meet” you guys regardless of admissions decisions :)

@frozens Agree! We should have a Harvard SCEA CC Thread gathering for all of us regardless of outcome.

@clumsy456 I totally feel you, haha. We hit the 60’s and immediately all the “winter clothes” were pulled out… Also I’m so ready to see what the early applicant numbers are!

@skslxxbjk when are numbers supposed to be released?

No idea when, but Its honestly raining right now and I’m so excited it hasn’t rained in forever.

@Melissawilliams @calliemoon11 @entrebusecon @PcollegegirlP My parents had no hand in my college application process/high school career academically or extracurricular-wise. I managed my grades and scores myself, created my resume myself, sought out extracurricular and job opportunities myself. Granted, my parents helped with some of the logistical things (Driving, opening bank accounts, etc.) that I couldn’t do by merit of my age.

It was kind of awkward though because my interviewer requested all my information and he was adamant that my “mother had it all put together somewhere.” I don’t think he believed me when I said I organized it myself 8-|

I’m new here but just confirming what I’ve gathered, the first wave of emails are the deferrals, followed by acceptances and denials, in that order. Can anyone confirm/refute this?

@azoresboy12 I don’t think that is entirely true. It is true that a majority of early emails are deferrals, but there are a few acceptances as well. On the other hand, if you don’t get an email by 5pm (last year emails started coming out at 3pm), you are most likely accepted.

Huh, I never knew emails were sent in any order.

@youngster9 That’s what I thought, thanks!

@entrebusecon if you go to last years EA applicant thread, they formed that hypothesis. Then it appeared that the first few people to get emails were being deferred, followed by those being accepted.

Hey you guys totally random, but I just noticed this. My lucky number is nine and on the Harvard pledge thread, I pledged 9th and my locker number this year is 99. I think I’m in :D

Why do they send them in that order? Any theories?

@skslxxbjk It is probably not intentional. Remember that most of the applicants are deferred and a small minority is rejected. So at the beginning the likelihood is that most emails are deferrals. As for why later emails are acceptances, I can’t really think of anything

@skslxxbjk I would guess they do defers first simply because they are the most common… Other than that I have no idea

I don’t know how helpful it would be, but should I send in pictures of my Greenland research expedition as an update? They are some pretty cool shots.

@HobbitTon Hmmm. That sounds epic, but if information about your Greenland research expedition is already elsewhere in your application, they would probably treat it as superfluous information.

Yeah, I wrote one of my essays on it LOL. I’ll probably stay away then.

@HobbitTon I totally understand how you feel, though! I really had to refrain from submitting too much material.
