Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

Thank you so much, @PcollegegirlP‌! I truly hope your dreams come true as well! I really like your interests and aspirations! You sound like a really determinant person, and it’s great to know that there are people like you wanting to lessen corruption and promote justice! And yes, I have done a lot of research throughout my high school career. You sound awesome, and hopefully, we’ll both get into Harvard and meet each other! :-)

@HobbitTon‌ I was born on the 11th, high five dear “+1 day” twin !! I hope that this will bring us luck :slight_smile:

@entrebusecon‌ I am very intrigued by your username, and I wonder what it means !!

@Karabekian yeah I’ve noticed it as well…of course being at a boarding school one of my recommenders has also been my dorm master for the last two years, so we haven’t really had a normal student-teacher relationship

@arielle17 Quite simply:
Entre: Entrepreneurship
Bus: Business
Econ: Economics
Unfortunately it doesn’t have some mysterious significance to it

@Visionary123‌ thank u very much and may ur words come true my friend! It will be my pleasure to meet u and to actually get to know each other… U brought a huge smile on my face lol…ahh so many dreams about Harvard, I hope these dreams become reality! emotional
I hope that Harvard see’s how much u can contribute to their community…u sound like an Awesome person, a open-hearted and caring person! Keep rocking! ;)

@entrebusecon chacha real smooth I didn’t expect that, I thought it was an italian word (say this outloud with a romantic accent : “Ciao bella entre’busecon!”). Anyhow, my guess is that you want to study something related to Econ/business ?

Just wondering… What is the one special thing about you that you think it would appeal to the harvard admissions committee?

@HobbitTon‌ Hey, I am just 5 days younger than you! :smiley: (If you are also born in 1996) Hopefully we get the most amazing birthday gift ever on decision day…

By the way, guys, does anyone know what it meant when I didn’t get an interview, yet, while my friend from the same district had one weeks ago? I didn’t think I am an automatic acceptance or rejection, so I am confused as to why I haven’t been contacted, yet, for an interview. :confused:

Edit: I did turn in my application 3 days before the deadline, so maybe that’s why?

@fairyfantasy‌: Are you in the US? If so, I don’t think that getting an interview/not getting interview at this point has any bearing on your decision. However, I read on either last year’s or the year before’s discussion thread that several students who hadn’t gotten an interview were called around a week before decisions, if I remember correctly, and were directly interviewed by an admissions officer over the phone. So if they feel like an interview will significantly add to your application, then they’ll give you an interview, one way of the other! Don’t stress yourself about this :slight_smile:

@frozens‌ Yup, I am in US. I must say I would prefer alum face-to-face interview over admissions officer phone interview anytime lol. No direct eye-contact will make me kind of uneasy, especially if the caller is an admissions officer. :o

But you are right, I shouldn’t stress about this! Too much other school stuff to worry about, haha.

@fairyfantasy‌: Yeah, I completely understand haha. I feel like that would be a pretty nerve wracking (but exciting!) call to answer. By the way, here’s the page on last year’s thread that I was talking about: <a href=“Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2018 applicants thread - #706 by shinexalive - Harvard University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1531926-official-harvard-scea-class-of-2018-applicants-thread-p48.html</a> Two people mentioned getting phone interviews on this page!

Didn’t get matched guys, so I got deferred. Just had to pop in to drop an update. Good Luck to rest of you all!! Just about two weeks now :slight_smile:

By virtue of the extremely large number of applicants to Harvard, some applicants do not get an interview simply based on chance-it is not a reflection of the quality of your application or odds of admission

@emenya don’t worry !! I don’t think that not getting an interview is synonymous with deferral !! :slight_smile:

So it turns out that my teachers wrote A LOT about economics in my recs, so much so that it suggests that econ is my favourite subject (I haven’t read the recs, but that’s what my teachers implied when I asked). Problem is I want to concentrate in physics at university, and I expressed this desire in my essay as well as other parts of my application… Now I have an inconsistency in my application! Also, I accidentally wrote I took an SAT that I hadn’t on the common app instead of an SAT that I had taken. Do you guys think that it’s worth an email or is it too late? Thanks :slight_smile:

@bvborussia‌ Don’t worry about the major thing-so many college students change their major that it’s not a big deal if you want to swap!

@bvborussia If you mis-wrote something on your application it may be worth an email.

@ekroxx @entrebusecon Thanks! :)
