Job/Work Experience: Boba place since last summer
Volunteer/Community Service: Interned at Congressman’s office
Summer Activities: Humanities program at Stanford soph and junior year summer (published a paper in a highly regarded historical research publication for HS students), debate camps, math camp
Essays: Wrote common about interning (7/10 I thought it was boring and cliched), supplement on how debate opened my eyes to structural racism (10/10 I spent hella time working on it LOL)
Teacher Recommendations: French (10/10 had her 3 years and she loved me), AP Lit (8.5, got the highest grade in class on a few essays + friendly relations) APES/H. Chem teacher (7/10, got her as a 3rd rec just bc)
Counselor Rec: 8/10? Didn’t talk to her much, but she seemed to like me
Additional Rec: Stanford prof for the humanities program - saw the letter beforehand, it was pretty good 9/10
Interview: Amazing. She said she gave me a stellar rec, so I’m guessing 10/10

Reflection
Strengths: I guess I was well rounded (humanities/social science focus but also pretty good at math)? It’s funny because I totally thought I would be a STEM kid when I entered HS, but oh boy did that change dramatically over the years.
Weaknesses: asian male, lukewarm teacher recs?
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Good stats + leadership and demonstrated passion in a few areas + decent essays… my counselor told me that my essays tended to be more analytical than personal… which I guess separated me from others?
Where else you are applying or have already applied: UCs, but that doesn’t matter anymore, Stanford Yale Princeton, I’m looking at for regular but who knows, I’m lazy
General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Really double down on a few things that you love. Don’t waste your time w/ volunteer clubs like NHS, find a consistent volunteering commitment that you know you enjoy and that you can write about. GPA and SATs matter, but your ECs are what gets you in.
