Official Jan. 27 SAT Biology Thread

Yes exactly. so the answer was probably not “kind” of atoms right? because the kinds were listed right there…C6H12O6. It had more to do with where the atoms were placed. Someone verify please.

and if anyone could verify the answer to the plasmid question, and the question regarding all ecosystems… plz do so… it’s killing me…

I of course cannot verify but I’d agree with you. Biology, especially concerns itself with the structure of compounds and isomerism is certainly much more important than isotopes in almost all cases. When referring to “kinds” of atoms, I believe the question was more concerned with what element the atoms are.

To delve a bit further in detail, most stable isotopes have identical chemical properties because though the number of neutrons are different, the number of valence electrons available for chemical bonding remains the same.

how about how many atoms in the reaction- I said 72 but its prob just 36.
Is the plasmid question you are referring to the one with the centromere and the bacteria?
For the first ones, was the last one (clam and fish or something like that) mutalism or commensalism?

Thank you. And now all I have to do is pray for a good curve…

To what reaction are you referring?

It was 36 atoms.

For the centromere one, I was referring to the bacteria and plasmid.

For the fish and clams(don’t recall), I said that it was commensalism.

me too, but my twin said it was mutalism cause the fish ate something?? If anyone could shed some light on that one…

I remember putting commensalism for something in the beginning. Yeah, what was the answer to the centromere one??

i put commensalism twice

As did I…

oh good. I did too. Can anyone remember anymore questions?

c’mon someone save me…
the answer to

the plasmid/bacteria/centromere one, or
the question regarding what is true for all ecosystems…

Does the bacteria play a large role in the centromere question? I remember feeling the same last year about some questions. I still don’t know the answers to them sheepish. I don’t think anyone is opposed to you on the plasmid question. The ecosystem one… you already saw my John Kerry interpretation of that.

Can someone who has taken the test approximate the # of questions one can miss for atleast 700+ and 750+?

prob like raw score of 70 for 750 and like 66-68 for 700.

whoa. 2 points down from 70 and it’s a 700? That’s harsh.

I don’t think the curve is lopsided. You can try to estimate with the percentile values:

<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

If you have a starting value for 800, say 2 wrong, you can go from there. Still, your test was pretty hard, so it might be a little more generous, but I would not expect a miracle either.

well, i say like 66-68 for 700 cause if 800 is given for the 76,77-100 range then the lower u go the more it skips.
