***Official January 2015 SAT (US ONLY) THREAD***

Thanks @specialk30‌ ! I got the “than did” question wrong then :))

@didierdrogba‌ If x people share the money, each has to pay y, so the total money would be xy. The question asks if there are x^2 people sharing the money, how much each has to pay. We divide the amount of money (xy) by the number of people (x^2) to calculate the money each has to pay: xy/ x^2 = y/x. The answer is y/x.

I hope my actual score reflects my practice test scores, but gahhh I really have no clue how well I did on CR or Writing!

@didierdrogba‌ I basically plugged in values. Say 100 was the cost distributed over x =5 people then you would get y=20. Now do the same with x^2. 100/(5^2) = 100/25 = 4. Plug in your x and y values into the answers choices to see which one results in 4. You see that 20/5 results in 4, thus the answer being y/x.

@nangkhieu‌ No prob! Sorry about that though…

What do u guys think the math curve will look like, lets pray its nothing like that of the Nov test

Hey guys! I thought this test was pretty difficult. I don’t know if it’s just me, but some questions on the CR and W were really ambiguous/confusing. I spent an hour looking through this thread and it looks like -1 math which would most likely be 770 (How do you do the (a+x)(x+2) = x^2+5x^2+b question?), - 1 or 2 writing with 11 essay, which would most likely be 770, and -3 or 4 reading which would most likely be 770. I’m at the edge of a 2300. Please substantiate this difficult test with a good curve!!! :slight_smile:

Will the postponement of the many tests on the east coast have any effect on the curve/scores?

@satgirl2015 For the (a+x)(x+2) = x^2+5x+b problem. You simply distribute the left side so you have x^2+2x+ax+2a=x^2+5x+b. you know a=3 because you have to have 5x. 2a corresponds to b so 2a=b a=3 2(3)=6 thus b=6.

@HarvardVines Oh, haha, thanks for the explanation! I feel really dumb now that I skipped that one.

Did anyone else get an ACT Writing experimental section? I was so relieved that I knew that it was going to be my experimental for sure. It was actually comparatively hard.

SAT veterans: any curve predictions?

Does anyone remember if the trapezoid question had an answer option of 5?

@nangkhieu‌
@specialk30‌

For the series question, do you guys remember what the question was explicitly asking? I remember putting 11, but I can’t exactly remember whether they asked “what is the next term of the sequence”, or “what is the 6th term of the sequence”.

If the sequence was 2,1,3,4,7,11, then wouldn’t that mean they gave us the 3rd term(3) and the 5th term(7)?

@CCmember2015 Area of trapezoid equation allows you to solve for the lower base, which was 9. You also were given enough information to determine that within part of the trapezoid was a parallelogram, with one of its length as 6. The length of the desired segment was the difference of those 2, which was 3.

You remember the series question i asked above?

@alexphan202020‌
Shoot I thought it was asking for a different length so I put five. The trap question was the one on the last section of math right? next to the rings one?

@ccmember2015 Yea, 2nd to last question on math.

@honeyclover‌

A repost, since CC doesn’t let you edit after 15 mins.

@alexphan202020‌ @collegenow111‌ How do you think the math curve will be on this section? I think I missed two?
Also does anyone remember if five was even an option for the trapezoid problem? I somehow ended up with a 3, 4, 5 triangle and thought that they asked for the line parallel to the one with length five

@alexphan202020‌ I believe they gave us the 3rd term (3) and the 5th term (7).
