Writing (Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):
Essays (Include Subjects): 8. I can’t remember if my essay was very memorable, but it was to the point and discussed the extracurriculars and volunteer work opportunities I plan on being a part of while at JHU.
Common App Main: I would give myself a 9 here. My personal statement was awesome. I worked on it with my AP Literature teacher for a while. She’s a very tough grader, but at the end of it, she said there was no reason why a university wouldn’t read my essay and not consider it some remarkable writing. Writing is my passion, so I stressed that through my essay as well as how creativity has always been a part of my life.

Reflection
Strengths: Academics, Extracurriculars, Leadership, Writing.
Weaknesses: SAT scores
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think I was accepted because I really rounded out my application. I sent a writing portfolio, the newspaper articles I wrote while abroad, and really showed persistence and interest in the school. My Common Ap essay was powerful. I also had a very good final transcript.
What would you have done differently?: Nothing. It all worked out
General Comments: I will be going to Johns Hopkins in the fall. Hope to see all of you there!
