*Official May 6th SAT Discussion*

Lol. Three days of discussing tired everyone out i guess.

I guess… and we only have sixty-three pages!

Yes, only sixty-three pages of SAT discussion, I don’t believe I’ve seen a thread this long on the forum.

I think at this point, I’m FORGETTINg all of the questions ~_~

Haha!

I think we went over most of the tough/evil questions. All we can do is wait for the CB to release the SAT booklets to settle some of these highly disputed questions like the dismissve vs. skeptical question… or the a and b are more than 100 apart II vs. II & III question.

does anybody remember what passages were in the section 4 CR which is the experimental section??

Someone said that the Dennis/Rocks one was experimental. So was the diary passage.

Again, about the “a and b > 100” question, HERE IS A WALKTHROUGH WITH THE UNDISPUTED CORRECT ANSWER.

If a and b are numbers on a number line more than 100 apart, which of the following MUST be true?

I. |a| - |b| > 100

II. |a - b| > 100

III. |a| * |b| > 100

I. If a and b are more than 100 apart, a and b could be -50 and 51, respectively. |-50| - |51| = 50 - 51 = -1. -1 is NOT greater than 100, so I is NOT always true.

II. If a and b are more than 100 apart, a and b could be -50 and 51, or 200 and 99, or 1066 and 742, or -500 and -620, respectively, for example. In each case, the difference between each is greater than 100. Remember that when subtracting negative numbers, the sign changes and you are actually adding, eg. 50 - (-51) = 101. If you are subtracting a positive number from a negative one, remember that you must take the absolute value. This is ALWAYS true.

III. If a and b are more than 100 apart, a and b could be 100 and -1, or 101 and 0, respectively. |100| x |-1| = 100. |101| x |0| = 0. Neither of these is greater than 100. This is NOT always true.

THE ANSWER: II ONLY.

I put II only also. I agree with you 100%.

INTERESTING…

I’m going to do something. :D

i think everyone is in agreement that the entomolgy question was in the experimental section, does anyone remember what the passage in that sec was and more sentence completitions? thanks

the is not experimental…I had math experimental and I had that sentence completion.

i failed it :frowning: oh well

Don’t worry, starlight.

I hear that the May curve will be generous… although it’s just rumors.

ok but rumors r usually correct, nahh, jk, idk let’s hope this is just a bad dream… :stuck_out_tongue: jk

Slivermoon, You said on an earlier post that you had to take the May SAT because you cancelled your April SAT scores because you blocked out on a section. However, in April posts after the April exam you state the scores that you received on the April exam. One cannot cancel scores after receiving them. Scores can only be cancelled if they are received in writing by the Wednesday after the exam.Your two statements are inconsistent. Perhaps I read them wrong?

Where did you hear that rumor silvermoon?

Collegebound5: Whatever scores I posted weren’t my April ones. It’s my January scores.

WMF, I read that in this thread:

WOW, I posted in that one. haha
