<p>Well, to clarify my post, I meant nerds. I mean, they could be literature nerds, history nerds, or ANY type of nerd–just a nerd :). After all, it comes down to what we define as a nerd? I’d say someone who’s passionate about a single field and pursues it in great depth.</p>
<p>honestly, zking, i can’t understand why any institution would repudiate such applicants. surely passion is what’s really desirable in any candidate. surely a strong passion manifested in one field (given that most of us are only around > 17; i’m sixteen) is just as credible as several passions in many fields. we haven’t really had the opportunity to diversify our talents.</p>

<p>i know…i think i wanted to go to rice more though…i kinda wanted to stay closer to home…and i dont know if i can handle the coldness of MA…hehe. but im doing biomed engineering/premed, and rice has connections to the houston med center, the largest med center in the world…so i think rice was more favorable than MIT…<em>sigh</em> i hope i dont regret my decision.</p>
<p>Rice is an awesome school. I’m sure you’ll be happy there. But it still stinks that you didn’t have a chance to really make a choice in the matter.</p>
