Why I think I was deferred: I’ve never entered a science fair…? But seriously, probably because I’m not as crazy as some of these other crazy nerds (whom I love). Other things people have told me could have hurt: putting “Architecture” down for Major without any previous experience, submitting paper application as opposed to online, essay was about how much I love New York although I live in a drugged-up rich town in Jersey. Also someone else said that you can be rejected for being too “introspective.”

Other thoughts: I was hoping that I’d rejected instead of deferred…but now that it’s happened it ain’t so bad. Don’t really know why I was deferred, but oh well. It’s seriously not the end of the world (which might have been the problem). Time to finish up and send out other applications and perhaps get teachers to write additional recommendations for me for MIT.

But even if I never get in, I’ll still love MIT. It’ll just be a love-hate relationship.
