Official Northwestern class of 2017 RD thread

@adezar2, as far as residential colleges are concerned…Slivka and CCI are pretty good (north campus).

I am beyond nervous for results, I’ve basically given up hope for everywhere after being waitlisted at WashU.

@colegebound16 - from what we’ve heard no one should give up hope after being waitlisted at WashU. You’ll most likely end up someplace perfect!

My D has applied to NU’s dual degree program. Does anyone know if Bienen’s notifications come out at the same time?

Thanks MomCares! I have been accepted to tulane’s honor program, so I’m glad to have that to fall back on–but it would be nice to have a couple more choices.

@colegebound16 - Choices are nice, but remember you can only attend one school, and can accomplish great things virtually anywhere. Congratulations on Tulane Honors and good luck on coming notifications!

@colegebound16, if it offers any solace, S was wait listed too at Wash U but ended up getting into schools that were ranked higher (well…as per US News Rankings :-)

So, good luck!

Wash U also tends to have one of the most unpredictable admission selection. Looking at many of the waitlisted posts on the Wash U thread it seems that they waitlisted many overqualified (at least stats wise) probably in the interest of yield protection? Maybe. That’s just the impression i m getting.

Plus tbh, i like the Evaston/Chicago atmosphere much more than St. Louis

Thanks for all your support everyone
I guess time will tell, but I feel like admissions at any school has become pretty unpredictable this year.

I don’t think it’s this year that’s different. I just think you notice it more when you’re a senior, vs. when you’re just hearing about the process.

Does anyone know this year’s notifications date?

@LuvMyMezzo, my son graduated with double degree last year. When he applied in 2007, School of Music decisions came out at the same time as other schools. He was waitlisted at first. When he called the school of music, he was told he was one of 3 tenors they had on WL. He sent a letter re-confirming NU as his first choice. He was taken off WL in the first week of June (I presume his WCAS admission was never an issue, though we’ll never know. They didn’t offer WCAS by itself). We lost his deposit at CMU, but NU lived up to his expectations and more:) Good luck to your D!

Thank you mnd! That was very helpful!!

Do not let WUSTL wait list be a gauge for determining any other school acceptance! That is the mantra that we are using at our house, remaining hopeful for NW, ND, and Vandy  Seriously, I think they are worse than some snobby Ivy’s in who they accept.

Thanks for the notification help everyone :)

@JRswish- hey I recognize you from those threads too! Lol at this point it would be a question of where I didn’t apply. NU is my top choice school tho, and wait listed at washU XP how bout you?

what about me who couldn’t even get waitlisted at WashU–basically rejected. I am so nervous about UChicago tomorrow

i applied to 22 colleges (21 coz of Ohio St messing up) but my top choices are Michigan, Duke, UNC, UVA, Miami (accepted today with 16000 scholarship!!!) and USC. NU is one of my top choices but then again each one of my 21 is.

JRswish, why so many? Those can’t all fit what you like. Different sizes, weathers, attitudes, etc. Even your top ones are all pretty different. You did apply to some monetary safeties right?

money aint a thang lol. Weather - as long as it aint triple digits im fine (no i didnt apply to Arizona lol).

why so many? i had around 10 on December 25. Got extra paranoid and added 11 more. added UW-Madison around mid-jan lol.

Obviously 21 (i hate you Ohio State) cant fit all that i want. but then again its nice to have choices right.

all my top choices have great academics (maybe not Miami to that extent but i love love love the city) and great bball/football programs (maybe not Virginia to that extent but i loved that place when i visited).

Hmm. I just never got why someone would go through the applications, or at least the supplements, for that many schools, haha. I finished 4, one ED to NU, got in and quit the other 2 I was going to do.
