****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2019 Discussion Thread****

I just had this weird deja vu moment. According to my foretelling mind, they’re coming tomorrow. I just feel it.

To be fair, the article that talked about the third week of March was published in January so it’s not really too surpring that things might have changed over three months.

@collegeconfused6 Wtf… Really?! Lollll. I was trying to check earlier what date it was posted but it doesn’t show the date on the mobile site. That makes total sense then…

Vanderbilt is releasing on sunday so anything is possible

Vanderbilt releases decisions 3 PM central on Sunday for anyone who applied there! :slight_smile:

I wouldn’t expect anything on a weekend from Northwestern. We went through literally the exact same thing in ED (expected Thursday at first, then expected Friday) and nothing came until the Monday after. I think it’s safe to say that admissions is probably not pulling extra hours over the weekend when they technically have 2+ weeks until decisions would be truly “late”.

I don’t know if we should even expect them Monday. I don’t recall ever hearing a reasoning during ED saying that they were running behind… we just got them the next Monday. That is actually understandable since they received and accepted a record number of ED applicants, but this is puzzling since they had 250 less applicants than last year’s RD round.

How do you know about Vanderbilt? Do they send an email?

@Jamesesesess‌ I hope Monday. I literally almost passed out today.

@thebingbong The day went by soooooooo slowly… I mean, I can make a weekend pass by just fine, but school days move twice as slow when you have something to look forward to. I don’t know if I could make it past Monday.

@dancing1 yes I got an e-mail

Hi everyone! I also applied RD to Northwestern and am anxiously awaiting the results! Does anyone know whether or not NU weighs demonstrated interest as heavily as WashU does? I know it’s too late to do anything now, but I’m afraid I demonstrated too little interest- I never had an interview nor have I ever stepped foot onto campus (I’m from California) :frowning:

@Ambitious19‌
Join the club. I’ve never visited either and I was an idiot and didn’t try for an interview because I didn’t want to give one over Skype (international student here). Definitely regretting it now. Also I got into WUSTL too (yay) but they don’t even have a supplement so I’m not sure how they gauge interest.

@thiny12‌ NU does look over interest, and especially when it only has so little spaces to fill, I do think it’s going to a part of the consideration. I do notice NU will take interest into account in ED, therefore I’m assuming the same for RD with addition to the above reason. But anyhow, you have good extra curricular activities and other scores and GPA, but I think your SAT I is a little too low for RD. Do notice that RD has an admission rate of almost 5%…good luck!

@Enthouse I live in the US, signed up for an interview, and was never contacted.

I am really regretting not visiting their campus since I only live about 7 hours away driving distance, but I tried setting up a visiting plan with my family in November and it was going to cost too much for what we could’ve afforded at the time. My family didn’t think it was worth it when I didn’t even know if I was getting in or not. Then again, not only did I apply ED but I told them again in my deferral letter that I would still promise to attend if I was accepted, so I don’t know if showing any more interest was even necessary. Then again, they may look down upon promising to attend a college that I haven’t even visited… I’ve had to do all of my research online but I knew the first time I discovered Northwestern that it was the place for me.

I did try setting up an interview a couple months ago when their registration opened up but their website wasn’t working at all for me and it was really confusing to navigate. It just kept telling me that they would email me when I had an interview available in my area, which never happened probably because I live in rural Wisconsin.

I just visited northwestern two days ago, do u think they’ll take into account that demonstrated interest. I went all the way from Cali… I fell in love with the school :confused:

S wanted to visit, but we wanted him to wait until he heard if he was accepted or not. He wants to major in Dance and communicated with the head of the dance department, and she told him that visiting before decisions were made would not affect his chances one way or the other, so we decided to wait. Hope that wasn’t a bad choice! Good luck to everyone this week – hope you all get great news!

I’m very afraid that I’ll get in and my best friend won’t :neutral_face:

@Enthouse Same! I got into WashU! But for WashU I at least completed their scholarship application, which probably demonstrated a bit of interest. For NU, my “Why Northwestern” essay was super in-depth and detailed, but I didn’t demonstrate any interest beyond that :confused:

@Jimboboy That’ll help, especially considering the fact that you’re from California and flew all the way there just to visit the school. By now, I feel like MOST decisions have been made; however, if you’re on the border, the visit will really help you!

I got into Wash U also. Congrats! Scared about NU, but it seems like Wash U is on par academically with NU and, from everything I’ve read, seems a little less intense than NU and the Ivys. What do you think / have you heard? Thanks.
