****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2019 Discussion Thread****

A little late but accepted! Congrats to everyone. And to those that did not receive good news, this decision is no where the end. You guys all have a bright future ahead of you!

Anyone know which is the correct fb group??

the one with the hyphen is the official group run by the school. the other one is the one being trolled by current freshmen (myself). it’s good for a laugh, and a rite of passage you have to go through.

not sure why they starred that, anyway its the one being infiltrated since apparently you can’t say trol led

@fjsisalfirhau‌ - (& others) i am just SICK- sick to my stomach. Thanks to the suggestion above, I double checked my common app and it says REGULAR DECISION!! I have NO idea how this happened. I submitted on time for Early action, I went over my app several times. (as did my parents) I almost feel like it was a glitch in the system. NU was one of my top choices, and a simple glitch is going to ruin my chances of getting in. Actually, it was the getting in part, I wanted to make sure I was in early for any chance of scholarships. Since Im OOS- there is no chance of going without some help. ugh… Im so frustrated & heart broken right now.

btw, for those who asked, I did get an email saying they had received my app. It didn’t have much detail like other colleges, but I did hear that they had it.

@catslovelizzie‌ @ilovemycat‌ I did get in! Cat club it is! And no worries, you’ll be an honorary founding member of the cat club either way :*

What the FUCK Northwestern??? I still haven’t received a notification, and I checked that I did apply for early decision and that I did submit my application. This is bullshit. ZERO errors should occur in the admission process.

@Lisn123‌ you have to specify that you’re appkying early decision. Just because you submitted it before the November 1 deadline doesn’t necessarily mean it submitted as an early decision app. Did you do that?

I selected ‘early decision’ on the common app. Also, I turned it in on November 1st, 11:36 p.m EST (10:36 p.m CST; I live in the midwest). 10:36 pm CST on November 1st was not late, correct?

guys the login isn’t working for me, it keeps sending me through two different login pages over and over again

On the second login page, you have to change the password to something you want it to be

@queserrva‌ @catz4evr‌ did you guys get your aid packages with the e-mail??

@NUapplicantED‌ Cool, good luck! I really want to know what other future midshipmen there are

anyone else biology?

Did NU have an “Early Action” choice? or only “Early Decision”? Im distraught that my app says Regular decision,I I applied for early action to all colleges but now I’m wondering if “early action” was never a choice for NU? and only Early Decision? It doesn’t show me what options were available

@Lisn123 ED or RD, no EA. How did you submit your applications that you didn’t have to individually specify which way you were applying?

@lisn123 Northwestern does not have EA, only ED. UChicago, on the other hand, has nonbinding EA, no ED. Been following this thread since numerous kids from my Ds high school applied ED and at least 2 got in last night. It’s going to be an interesting day at school today. My D withdrew NU because she got in Cornell ED. I feel bad that you checked the wrong box on the common app. Keep your head up for RD and if you get in, you can now compare FA packages from all the schools you get in to. Historically, NU has not been super generous with FA but I know they are changing that.

How many people are typically deferred. Of that how many get in?

@annwank did your D apply ED to multiple places? That was clearly not allowed… You may only apply to one ED, with no limit on EA…

^no, @nuhopeful19, I know the rules since I have worked in admissions. Please do not accuse D or me of being dishonest. She put in an ED to Cornell, (accepted); EA non-binding to UChicago (which is allowed, but now withdrawn because of ED decision); RD to Northwestern, RD to WashU. So it cost us an extra $150 or so to submit to the RD schools in November, but that was fine with us. Knowing my daughter, she would have been procrastinating the essays for RD round if she was denied or deferred by Cornell and would have had a stressful xmas break, so she did all her apps at one time: submitted NU and WashU (both marked RD on common app) at the same time as Cornell ED. The public school (U of Illinois) application is allowed under all circumstances but has also been withdrawn once she was accepted to Cornell.

Hope I’ve made myself crystal clear.
