****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

I got one too!

@tennisgirl9019 Got one too. Lol I think it’s a bit early for the adcoms to have decided who they want enough to have interviews, so my guess is that it’s for everyone

Lol okay that’s what I figured, especially since I turned in my app the day it was due. There’s no way they could’ve gone through our applications that quickly. Fingers crossed for everyone yay good luck!

I think everyone got one. It’s a generic form email. My DD did not read anything into it. We’ve a
Ready visited many times. I doubt we need to do an interview as well that is only informational.

@tennisgirl9019 No interview here but it could likely be because there are no alumni in my area. I believe Northwestern offers interviews to all applicants as long as there ones available.

Has anyone had an interview yet? Mines tomorrow and it’d be nice to know what to expect!

@janevyl I applied RD SESP for social policy!

I got a letter of confirmation that my RD application was completed. What now? Am I supposed to be waiting for some other email other than the acceptance/rejection letter?

I believe that’s it. There is not portal.

From the Daily Northwestern:

http://dailynorthwestern.com/2016/01/12/campus/northwestern-sets-record-for-most-applications-ever-increasing-9-percent-from-last-year/

“Northwestern broke its previous record for the highest number of applications received this year, drawing 35,034 first-year applications.
Prospective students had to submit their Regular Decision applications to the University by Jan 1., adding an additional 32,012 applications to the already 3,022 students who applied Early Decision. The combination of Early Decision and Regular Decision applications went up 9 percent this year, said associate provost for university enrollment Michael Mills, and the University eclipsed its previous record set two years ago with 33,674 applications.
Mills said he expects the final acceptance rate to be about 11 percent. Mills attributes the higher application numbers to NU excelling in distinguishing itself from other schools.”

Congrats to all who get in!

I was just wondering how you guys calculated your GPA on a 4.0 scale

@Manini99

So let’s say you have a 3.9 GPA on a 4.2 scale.

3.9/4.2=x/4

@Zeppelin7 it just simply means all engineering students would have to take 2 courses: dtc and engineering analysis. For the question of campus tour, I think they would not consider it too much. Based on the common data set, they considered your interest but it’s didn’t matter a lot. For instance, they considered interview, but i am not the only person who got in without an interview.

EA courses are pretty much math (except EA2 is mechanics) classes with Matlab included as a tool for doing the math.

DTC are design and presentation courses, which can be great if you have a good team, and overwhelming if you are left carrying a weak time. My son had one of each.

Sorry if it looks less exciting spelled out

If you know your major, you can go onto the NU web site and find all the courses available to take in each quarter for your major with brief descriptions. Actually the DTC and EA courses might be harder to find, but you can get a really good feel by diving in what your coursework will entail.

Does anyone have a link to Northwestern’s website regarding the Mid-Year Report?

Hey guys, I have a question about MidYear reports. Does NU want us to submit them through Naviance or Common App?

Dad is a Northwestern interviewer. They send requests if anyone is in the area. Interview MATTERS. Getting a 1 score means they need to take you no questions asked (leads to admit). 3 or 4 is they’re ok but nothing special/dont admit.

I got in after cancelling two interviews.

Hello! This may have been discussed before but I have a question regarding ISP and other science programs. I didn’t take the Chem SATII/Chem AP test or the Physics SATII but I have taken both the Bio SATII as well as the Bio AP test. I have fulfilled all other requirements (MathII SATII etc.), is there any way for me to still apply? Are they lenient on testing requirements?

@futureengineer20 what is the max score for an interview
