from having a different GPA scale

Ahaha. It’s not as crazy as it sounds. Actually, 6.0 is as high as it goes at my school and 5.35 just barely puts me in top ten percent.

At my school (and most others I would assume) the highest is 5.0. This can only be achieved if a student gets straight A’s and takes nothing but weighted classes for all four years.

Since PE is generally a graduation requirement and since most schools simply don’t offer anywhere near the amount of AP/E/H classes it would take to fill 4 years, this is usually seen as impossible.

reading all these stats is just painful- everyone has high gpas, high sat scores, etc.
hopefully, the averge nyu applicant isnt an average cc member :)

vagrant,

many californian residents i know who got accepted into Berkeley got rejected by NYU.

NYU> Berkeley for californian residents.

Berkeley>NYU internationally speaking

but no one applies to Berkeley itnernational…international ppl go for HYPSM>

I personally think that the New SAT I favors people who are strong in English.

It’s just not fair.

There’s going to be a lot of competition this year for CAS. What do you think the general “cutoff” SAT scores will be?

Oh and one more final thing about the UC’s with respect to NYU (I know, it sounds kind of stupid).

I think a major why USNWR ranks UCSB right near NYU for selectivity is that 63% of NYU freshmen rank in the top 10 percent of their class whereas at UCSB it’s 96% of their freshmen.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if half the people with stellar stats/recs/ecs/essays get rejected from cas. I’m really not optimisitc about this
I have a bad feeling in my tummy.

h20 don’t freak out… the worst thing you can do right now is be pessimistic and feel low about this. you’ve done all that you can, you’ve worked hard, tried your best and hopefully the admissions people can see that. people are going to get rejected all the time, but it’ll just make you more stressed out worrying about it. besides, i’ve seen your stats and they are really decent, so i dont even know why you are so pessimistic! :)

all i can say is that college shouldn’t make you feel bad. not getting into so and so college isn’t the worst thing in the world, and you cant let a rejection or an acceptance define you because then you’ve just reduced yourself to a number. i’m sure come april i’m going to have acceptances and rejections, but its what i do after them that counts.

hah i sound like a parent or something. but really, you have a great application so stop killing yourself over it!
and good luck!

LOL
i suggest that everyone assume that they didn’t get in now- this way, if we do, well GREAT!!
but if we don’t, it’s like letting yourself down easily- at least you’ve had time to digest it, so it’s not such a shock
sorry if this is a downer- but i’m sure many of you dont have to resort to this method as your stats are great ![]()
but like applicant06 said- “stop killing yourself over it!” ![]()
It’s just college. LOL

Thanks app06
You sound like what a good mom should be saying. (unlike my mom who threatens me lol.) best of luck to you too. great pple skills by the way.
