I’m not sure. I go to an IB high school that’s not classified as a “magnet school”, but a rival IB high school in the same district is. I guess you need to Google your school and see if it’s a magnet school?

Obviously, I am a big Google fan. And I’m kind of sad they don’t use the “Yes!” letter anymore.

Spot on Emek. According to the ever trusty Yahoo! search, a magnet school is:
“A public school offering a specialized curriculum, often with high academic standards, to a student body representing a cross section of the community.”

I still cannot believe we’re getting so close to the day. I don’t expect to be focusing in school for the next week.

Thanks. Hmm… a little cofusing. I’ve been just wondering lately because at the magnet school in my area, they had representatives from MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and NYU. And my high school, (7 miles away) has never had a rep. even approach us. All we have is Public Texas Universities like Longhorns, and Aggies.

Well, thanks everyone who added. I personally think that attending a magnet school might hurt an applicant in the process because their expectations are higher and more is taken into consideration…

Agree? Maybe I just stated the obvious? Or maybe I just stated something preposterous?
haha…

You’re right, universities would probably expect a lot from a magnet school. Then again, they might understand that IB is tough and let a few B’s slide.

^ You should def go to Rome, as well, though.

I’ve visited London, Paris, Rome, and Florence, and Rome was easily my favorite, culture-wise. I liked London because there was no language barrier, and their transportation ROCKS, but Rome still takes the cake.

Coliseum + ancient ruins of the Senate Chamber + St. Peter’s Basilica (my favorite cathedral ever. It’s the biggest in the world) = Ownage.

But I still really want to go to Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, etc., etc.
I plan on living in Europe for at least a few years at some point :)

Oh, I forgot! I also want to go to Liechtenstein. I know, it’s silly. I also want to be the first American ambassador to there. (Currently, the U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland covers Liechtenstein, too)

i’m going backpacking in europe with a friend this summer! we’re hitting ireland, scotland, london and of course, paris! it’s what i focus on when i’m oober stressed about college…
