lol, I just realized that I didn’t post that on the thread that I ment to post it on. Probably should keep all that kind of junk on the other thread.

j07 and all, just wanted to say again, that this group of students is the nicest bunch of kids with a lot of obvious passion for Princeton. I hope you all get accepted, and during the visitation/hosting days, you gather at some convenient location (how about the cannon sticking out of the ground?) to remember how supportive you all were with each other on CC and celebrate your victory.

Haha arbiter I like the tigers idea. Maybe we can train them to do tricks, and then we can have them march around our CC meeting circle while we celebrate our victory.

And thanks CMA, we love you too. ;)

does low income, family abuse, and summer jobs count for anything? my friend insists these things will get him into harvard and princeton. is this really true?

No, those things won’t “get” you into Harvard and Princeton. They may be taken into account, especially if written about effectively in an essay or discussed in an interview, but they won’t make or break an applicant.
And really, I’m sorry, but the ceaseless hypothetical situations about what will help you get in or not help you get in aren’t really conducive to increasing your chances of acceptance. I know this is about your friend and not you, but I think that if you concentrated more on the strengths and talents that you currently possess you would be much more productive. Sorry if that was offensive in any way, I’m just trying to be honest.

I can just imagine high school students asking their parents to spank them so that they can say they were “abused.” I think you need the whole ghetto+low income+abuse package to get any special treatment, and even then, it’s only just another factor. What annoys people is that the colleges will just look at the ethnicity box and then just assume an applicant’s state of living from there.

When did you get your acceptence to Ross?

ungst - it was a while ago…not that long after I received my rolling admission, I’d like to say around December.

Well congrats on the Echols scholar and everything else, all the places on your list would be really fun and they’re awesome schools!

thanks j07!

^^Except Ohio State. Just kidding (please, it really is a joke…I am a huge Michigan fan, so it’s hard for me to ever think well of OSU :)). All those schools you got into are really really good…so congrats (even on OSU :))

thanks jon314…as far as b-ball is concerned, i’m rooting for UNC

I got accepted to UNC and one reason I am really considering going there is because going to the basketball games would be soooo much fun. I LOVE basketball…I think I’m the only girl that I know that wanted to sit around all day on Thursday and watch basketball instead of going prom-dress shopping like everyone else. My guy friends kinda make fun of me for it, but I think that they think it’s funny that I want to watch Sportcenter with them and that I fill out a bracket. I love March Madness!!

(sorry for the random tangent distracting from ED results, but at this point I think it’s fairly futile to “keep it all clean” ;))

You’re not the only girl, j07. Just hearing the word “prom” makes me cringe–lol. I’d rather watch basketball or do anything else than shop. I hate it.

Girls that don’t like to shop? That’s actually kind of… cool. Keep up the good work.

I found this interesting picture on the internet. <a href=“ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs”>ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs; I wonder if he got paid to do that.

hah, sorry to burst ur bubble j07, but i hear it is next to impossible to even get a bad ticket to a game versus a horrible team…getting a decent seat for a duke game starts about $1000.

holy crap
i went back and looked at the stats of people accepted
almost ALL of them had 2300s SAT scores
… sigh
with my 2000s SAT score… i guess the most i can hope for is a waitlist

did anyone do an average of the stats of those accepted/deffered/rejected?

ivysuccess.com is for sale;
