Subjective:

Essays: I thought they were well-written, but I don’t know if they were particularly unique. My “Why Chicago?” essay was very convincing and offered several reasons why I wanted to attend Chicago over other prestigious research universities.

Teacher Recs: One was pretty mediocre; I think the teacher thinks I’m dumb now (bad decision!) The other I never read, but I’m assuming it was well-written and pretty good.

Counselor Rec: Enthusiastic, but with many spelling errors! haha
Hook (if any): Double legacy (mom and dad), Biology & journalism interests (weird!), supplemental materials, but no interview

Location/Person:
State or Country: Virginia
School Type: Public school
Ethnicity: Off-white (haha)
Gender: Female

Other Factors: I can say with confidence that I am more attractive than the aforementioned squirrels.
General Comments: My package did not arrive until today (Monday!), so I was getting incredibly worried. I kept on thinking that admissions didn’t think my essays were creative and intellectual enough. I’m beyond thrilled! ;-)

Other FactorsExtracurriculars:Below CC average[] Why I think I was accepted/deferred: I don’t know…i wasn’t expecting it to be honest because u of c is so *special and its decisions are generally unpredictable. But probably my essays…Other thoughts: I am just loving my life right now…U of C is the god of all universities…NORTHWESTERN SUCKS!

I would love to talk to more people that got accepted…I’m a little worried about ‘fitting in’ at uchi…im not the typical brainy bookworm biochem major type that is the archetypical u of c applicant…i just love the intellectualism of it, even though i won’t be one of the ‘geniuses’ on campus. After getting full-rides from not so elite uni’s, i decided id rather be the little fish in the big bowl…

i just went back and realized my ‘other stats’ section was very empty and made me look like a loser that did nothing all throughout highschool…i was also nhs vice pres, student council treasurer, newspaper and yearbook editor, interned as vice president’s assistant at big PR company, freelanced for newspapers, did a whole lot of independent humanitarian stuff, played volleyball + other sports, etc.

my interest was in a specific college with a specific major that would allow me to do either business or law, as i am unsure. and i had a friend who’s sister did it and she said that it is an amazing major. oh well
