[ b]Stats:[ /b][ list]
[ *] SAT: M 780, V 660, W 710 = 2150
[ *] SAT IIs: 760 Japanese W/ List, 730 Bio, 710 Math IIC
[ *] GPA: 4.0 UW, school does not tell me my weighted, but I took all AP’s possible.
[ *] Rank: Top 10 pct
[ *] Other stats: State and National achievements in piano, leadership positions, Drum Major of marching band (competes at highest state-level and had gotten state championship), international background, athletics, etc.

[ /list][ b]Subjective:[ /b][ list]
[ *] Essays: Very unique. The subject of my essay was hard to come across. My short answers were poor, however.
[ *] Teacher Recs: Mostly ranked “exceptional”.
[ *] Counselor Rec: Average.
[ *] Hook (if any): No hook at all. Above average middle class Asian male.

[ /list][ b]Location/Person:[ /b][ list]
[ *] State or Country: New York
[ *] School Type: Public
[ *] Ethnicity: Asian
[ *] Gender:Male

[ /list][ b]Other Factors:Not certain.[ /b]
[ b]General Comments:I think I was just one of the rare unlucky bunch. By comparing myself to some of the CC’ers, I believe I should have gotten acceptance by some of my achievements. Oh well, I guess my short answers just didn’t show my realistic passion for NU. They’re decision was accurate; I certainly spent alot more time on my Penn application.[ /b]

I got rejected too and I feel the same. It would have been nice to go to Northwestern, but I’ll live. Now my choice of going East Coast has been shot down. Two brothers and my dad were alumni, but my sister got rejected too and that makes me feel better. UCLA or BYU it is then.

Decision: Waitlisted- Weinberg

Stats:
SAT: 2210 (800 CR 610 M 800 W)
SAT IIs: 800 USH 760 Lit 800 World History 720 Bio-M
GPA: 95.5 uw
Rank: 9/105
Other stats: 5s on AP US History and Bio, all I’ve been able to take thus far. Pretty good ECs… student body president, a lot of involvement and achievement.

Subjective:
Essays: These were probably the weakest of any I sent out… it was pretty clear I wasn’t that interested
Teacher Recs: All three were excellent.
Counselor Rec: Very good as well.
Hook (if any): Not a chance.

Location/Person:
State or Country: Upstate NY
School Type: Minuscule, PoS public
Ethnicity: What do you think?
Gender: Male

Other Factors: Class rank probably hurt me… lack of demonstrated interest.
General Comments: Not happy, as usual… while neither Wash U nor NU was at the top of my list, it still would’ve been nice to know that somebody out there likes me enough to accept me. ****.

I’m actually don’t mind this rejection much, guess because I expected it… well I’m very pessimistic. Right after I finished college apps, I made a bet w/ my friend (for $5) that I will not get into any other college other than my safety. I lost that bet. Earlier, I made the a bet about NU for the same amount. xD woot now I get my $5 back. My dad was so sure that I could get in because he went there… and I just kind of was like… eh whatever you say. Oh well… it was my second choice, but yeah… we’ll live =) I’m probably going to end up in CMU next year xD

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Hawaii
[] School Type: large private
[] Ethnicity: Japanese/Chinese
[] Gender: Female

[/ul]Other Factors: again, my essays were probably the strongest component of my application, so i think that’s the only thing that really pushed me past the rejection pile. and i had a BIT of trouble with one of my teacher recs (and when i say bit, i mean a ****load), so that might have been a little detrimental… can’t be sure. it certainly got my file for PLME cancelled, but whatever.
General Comments: there is no way i am going to accept the wait list position! congratulations to everyone who got in, and good luck to everyone who’s still waiting for a decision!

Congrats on Carnegie Mellon University! I think my dad just wanted me to go there so he could see his Wildcats play at Ryan. My stats weren’t impressive, and now I regret not taking any bets, hehe.

I went to the Sun Bowl during Christmas wearing purple against UCLA, now I might actually be on the winning side of a football game ;). J/P
