<p>I don’t mean this in a negative way at all, because by most standards a 3.87 GPA and 1780 SAT is a very good combination, and I certainly have done no better. I’m just wondering why you applied to Stanford and Northwestern with those kind of scores…any particular reason? I mean they’ll get you into plenty of great schools, but those are beyond reaches.</p>
<p>Northwestern gave me a free application, no fee or anything, so I thought, “What the hell?” I got rejected from them yesterday, and I wasn’t upset. I was just glad that they <em>finally</em> gave me the answer. </p>
<p>Stanford because it was right around the corner from where I live, and would give me 100% financial aid. I also went there over the summer for JSA Summer School, and I fell in love with it. Even though I knew I didn’t have the scores, I just had to try. I also got a free application with them, so again, I thought, “What the hell?” </p>
<p>Since both Northwestern and Stanford were free, might as well go for it.</p>
<p>I know I’m probably going to end up in DC, but that’s okay. As long as I tried.</p>

<p>idk if the CollegeBoard range is correct…i think the GWU viewbook lists the average SAT range (both sections) as 1270-1410. who knows.</p>
