OFFICIAL Saturday, October 15 PSAT Thread

perhaps I did…
dude…can we complain and have stuff thrown out cuz that tile question…

Girl next door… the answer was 5-2 = 3

Yep 5-2=3 is the direct contradiction. Little slow there with math girl next door?

I said something else. 5-2=3 was for ONE civilization, and the line they referred to said “most ancient civilizations”, so I didn’t think it was a strong contradiction. :</p>

why isn’t zero (I believe it was from Maya) the contriction. The passage said that for the Roman numerals I, II, and, III, there is one slash for each number added to one. Zero does not have any value, so there would be no slash at all.

is anyone going to answer this question: anyone remember the math question asking how many different numbers greater than 40000 can be made out of the numbers 1,2,3,4,5? I got 48 (24321). Is the answer right.

^ that’s what I got

yeah me too.

Yes, 48 is the right answer. It’s five factorial, divided by five, times 2.

anyone get the last answer choice (E) for the writing question about FDA and vitamins?

the >40000 was indeed 48, kevin

for the grisley bear question, i’m pretty sure the answer was B

the question went along the lines of:

researchers who study grisly bears and black bears think the grisly is the more dangerous.

answer choice B was the “who” part

whenever a clause begins with “who,” it means the information in it is not necessary

however, in this sentence we need to know grisly bears and black bears are being researched by researchers and that in the last part of the sentence, the grisly bear is more dangerous than the black bear

we couldnt have “researchers think the grisly is the more dangerous”

“most dangerous” would work, but that’s not the case here so I think the answer is B because “who” should be “that” since “that” implies the following information is necessary

FDA and vitamins is not E. It was weirdly worded.

anyone remember the math question on something going left 1 space and then to the right 3 spaces and then find the number of times the thing must go left before reacher 30? Did anyone get 15?

I got D for the question about FDA and vitamins…I think it was more concise than E

what about the writing question about alleviating pressures in the work place while keeping the company efficient or something like that

btw, does any remember what the exact wording was for #20 on the math section about the tiles?

when they say tiles, do they mean a tile pattern which consisted of the 5 smaller tiles?

it was 30 i believe…i think i got 15 at first, but then i realized something that once back and once foward is two moves

I got 15. I actually wrote out all the numbers just to make sure. I didn’t get what was so tricky about it. :P

matrix - they asked how many times does it move one space to the left.

i got 15 kevin
each time you move 2 to the right so 2x = 30
x = 15

I am pretty sure the answer is 15, not 30. The question just asked how many times the thing must move to the left, not the total number of times(left and right). Correct me if I am wrong.

this may sound dumb, but what was the answer for the first sentence completion, the one about arts and the reappearing). I did not get the sentence at all, so I chose (I eliminated three other answer choices) the the answer choice that has wavered as its answer.

Surged…collapsed (if that’s the question you’re talking about).
