Official Spetember ACT Scores Thread

“Idt you’ve gotten a 35 OR 36 for how “easy” it is lol”

i never said that, just that it was easy

If it’s easy, why can’t you do it? Since you know so much. You shouldn’t have trouble with ‘easy’ things right? Who in the world is it ‘easy’ for if not you? Adcoms? The average college student? Who is this person, who is apparently very common, getting a 36 easily?
And that WAS you who said you were a frosh with a 27.
You are a big angry trollllllllllll, I knew it.

How about I (a senior) shed some light on this situation.

I take offense to this considering I did receive a 33 on my ACT. You do not have to be smart to do well on the ACT or SAT, just so you know. It is all about catering to the test and understanding it. A person’s great “smartness” if you will may correlate rather well with a high ACT score, but correlation does not imply causation. I find an ACT score of a 33/36 is a great score considering it is in the 99th percentile and therefore is better than 99% of the people who took the test. I don’t care if you were kidding or not, but anything above a 30 is a very good score in my opinion and will be competitive for college.

Search online and you will find many studies that indicate an observable relationship between ACT and SAT scores. Actually, I have read a study that indicated the ACT to be more realistic when it comes to college preparedness.

What makes you believe that you know the truth? Have you done your own controlled study of ACT and SAT test takers and examined the correlation between the two tests? I don’t believe so, therefore you have no concrete evidence on the situation at hand. The sites who post about the tests have typically done their research.

If the tests were not equal than why would colleges post that they give equal consideration to both? If they do not, then they are providing misleading information to prospective students. What causes the trends in ACT scores? The test hasn’t changed, so I don’t see your reasoning that the test must be easier if more people are getting higher scores. This implication in no way brings the SAT into consideration. Perhaps SAT scores are also increasing? Does that mean the SAT test is easier? Have you ever thought that maybe the quality of education is increasing? I really do not see any point to your argument in this portion.

I wouldn’t say that the ACT has been getting easier. Where is your proof that the ACT does not also adapt to the new levels of intelligence students possess? You are making an assumption that the ACT does not adapt yet the SAT does. Don’t assume unless you can back it up. Oh, and by the way, I have been on this forum more than you so I imagine I should know more by your indication.

This made me laugh. Are you a college admissions counselor? Can you even comment on how colleges view the scores? No, I do not believe you can. As I said earlier, colleges tell their prospective students that they take equal consideration of both tests. And again you claim the SAT is harder. You can not base this off of your one opinion. Some may view the SAT as easier. It is all in the perspective. Also, by your account I should have a 36 on my ACT. If what you say is true than everyone would be getting 36s. Sorry, but your argument is truly flawed.

I’m sorry, but since when have they been hiring high school freshman/sophomores as college admission counselors?

Why do you repeat the same argument over and over, but just start adding in offensive statements?

Basically, you are wrong in most of your assumptions. Also, if you look at the ACT as so much easier and say that colleges give more consideration to the SAT, then why are you even taking the ACT or in the ACT Preperation forum.

“I’m sorry, but since when have they been hiring high school freshman/sophomores as college admission counselors?”

…dumbass

What makes you believe that you know the truth? Have you done your own controlled study of ACT and SAT test takers and examined the correlation between the two tests?

…yeah, actually. I even put in all in my ti-89 once.

“You are a big angry trollllllllllll, I knew it.”

lol…ok.

“And that WAS you who said you were a frosh with a 27”

no it wasn’t, it was your mother.

“I take offense to this considering I did receive a 33 on my ACT”

you, on the other hand, could have gotten that score justifiably, sorry. :P

“anything above a 30 is a very good score in my opinion and will be competitive for college.”

not really for ivies, but you could use it easy in a liberal college in the woods somewhere.

“post that they give equal consideration to both?”

to encourage kids like you

“Don’t assume unless you can back it up”

proof is for noobs who cannot think, but can only transmit.

“The test hasn’t changed”

look at some tests from 1999, the science section especially. You will rethink that.

“Also, by your account I should have a 36 on my ACT. If what you say is true than everyone would be getting 36s.”

i said no such thing, nor do I carry such a belief.

“This made me laugh.”

your mother makes me laugh…

“but just start adding in offensive statements?”

dude…if you think that’s bad…

dude seriously, thats the dumbest argument ever…
“Don’t assume unless you can back it up”

proof is for noobs who cannot think, but can only transmit."
thats the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard of…seriously like wow

Whoa.

I’m just going to say that personally, the SAT is way easier than the ACT for me.

jkaplan,seriously. I wouldn’t be calling anyone stupid.

kmtt, you must be smart. :)

I’m not calling you stupid, I’m saying that you have no evidence to back your agrument and your idea that proof is dumb is a little ridiculous, far from calling you stupid ;)

yeah not really.

dumb = stupid

what I say is what I am.

Egbert Souse, your comments are against the rules of this site by personally attacking another CC member and therefore can get you permanently kicked off of CC.

Anyway, you have added nothing to your validity by the so-called “counter-argument” you made.

go tell a mod, see if anyone cares…Mr Illinois :D

Well, UIUC is one of the best engineering schools in the nation…

Salve, don’t feed the ■■■■■. Just ignore it and maybe it will scamper away. Somebody should tell a moderator. For real.

… if colleges didn’t view SAT and ACT equally, they would TELL us. Why would they go out of their way to confuse…? does that make any sense hm hm?

"Well, UIUC is one of the best engineering schools in the nation… "

no.

and btw, exactly how am I a ■■■■■ (to end any rumors about me being one)?

^Egberts my homeboy but what the hell are you on.

rofl

10char

I love when people do this and claim they aren’t ■■■■■■■■. If you aren’t ■■■■■■■■, why would you give a flying f*** about anyone else’s opinion, let alone give a line by line commentary on their counter arguement. Go find a more productive use for your time, like taking some practice tests and getting 36s to prove to everyone that it really is easy.

UIUC is ranked number 5 in engineering…i would say it’s one of the best

Hey, whoever said you can pull an EASY 36 from a week of studying, GIVE ME SOME TIPS, DAMMIT. This **** is stressing me out so much. I don’t even need anything higher than a 30. A 25 would make me MORE than happy!
