*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

yes indeedy! gotta love UChicago too :] too bad i’ve never been there, and I’m worried about the wind! xD

good night reallyreal!

good night reallyreal.

@nerdess
What other colleges are you applying to?

I have STANFORD [haha duh…but still :D], Princeton, Columbia, UChicago, Duke, Wash U, 4 UCs [Cal, LA, Davis, and last minute added Irvine b/c I somehow got fee waivered anyway], & Rice and UOP [both thanks to fee waiver].

Gotta finish up P/C/C/D’s supplements. :confused:
and Wash U’s scholarship essays!

Only 2 ivies? Your parents are going easy on you haha.

actually, my parents had absolutely no say whatsoever in my college application process :] they only provided me their credit cards for the app fees/ score sends! i researched em all, and i only liked Princeton and Columbia. I totally thought I’d try Harvard, but somehow I couldn’t find the luster it had a few years back.

i know, i’m an exception for an asian.

Wow you’re lucky. My parents basically made me apply for almost all the ivies.

Less apps=less stress/work. Imagine if our own little CC bubble represented the world population, now there would be a ton of Asian people applying to Stanford…oh wait! There are!

aw, hopefully you’re interested to an extent to where you’re applying? many of my friends are like you. their parents essentially gave them a list of schools to apply to. :confused:
for me, i cannot write earnest essays for schools that have no sparkles. and honestly, all the ivies are so different! how can i apply to all of them and expect them to all fit me?

i should have applied to yale, though. princeton’s a bit conservative for my tastes xD but princeton is still my 2nd choice school after stanford.

bbl trying on my winter formal dress now xD hehehe

@top
haha true

@nerd
to tell you the truth, I’m not really interested in any of them. I just have to bs all my essays.

and nerdess, you’re a chick? I thought you were a guy the whole time.

hey everyone. hope you guys had a wonderful thanksgiving. we don’t celebrate in here in my country… can’t wait to go to US and eat some turkey next year.

anyway, i was searching the forum for an answer to something and it didn’t turn out too well. so i am hoping you guys here can enlighten me. i applied REA to Stanford… am I still eligible to apply Early Decision II elsewhere? the website says we can’t apply to other “Early Decision program (or any variation thereof)”… so i’m quite confuse… is EDII a type of variation (ok, it probably is. but i just need to throw it out there XP)

haha!! I’m applying to 5 Ivyz. My decision though!! liked a different thing about most of them… Columbia (New York, Combined plan prog, cultural diversity), Cornell (arguably best engineering program in the ivys), P’ton ( interdisciplinary studies, prestige, like the structure of the chemeng program), Upenn (Jerome Fisher M & T), Harvard ( My mum, GC, Everyone of my friends, Grandpa, Prestige, 1 essay)… lol!!

This time difference thing sucks! Ya’ll talked all through the night (my time) and when I finally wake up, ya’ll go to sleep… Its hella ( :D) unfair!!

Nope you can’t apply EDII unless its a public school! and even if you do apply EDII and get it, you’d have to go to that school regardless of whether you get into Stanford or not!!!

. . . . . . . . . .
FACEPALM

HAHAHA. HEY HEY HEY, what, was I exuding testosterone from my posts? WHAT? I’D LIKE TO KNOW. hahah

it’s all good :)

and I believe kimathi is correct!

i’m sorry you have to b.s. through your essays :confused: what pain they must be?

@kimathi

good luck with the JF dual degree… as far as I know, it’s really hard to get into that program…

SARBA YOU’RE BACK! yay :]

@fledgling I go to ISKL! how’d you know? :)

@sarba

It is impossible to get into! They accept 50 applicants every year!! :open_mouth: Bt i have nothing to lose by applying (except app fee, SAT report fee, a lot of time devoted tot he essays lol!!! )

If i get into both the JF prog and Stanford, I’ll have an impossible time picking!! bt thats the kinda dilemma you want to be in… ;)

Note to everyone whom I bade goodnight to earlier: I tried going to sleep but couldn’t since I already took a nap earlier this afternoon, so eh…

@ improvprincess: Uh, let’s just say that one of my previous high schools was one of your rivals in the IASAS conferences, so I’m quite familiar with all the participating schools. I was even at ISKL for a band exchange once in 8th grade!
