*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Yes, Courtney. I am going to distance-rape you from the DMV.

=.=; I’ll get you a picture when my sister gives me back the camera.

Haha thanks for the concern guys, but it’s unnecessary. I’m the only car on this road for miles, and the road is very, very straight. I just get so bored!

This will be the last I say on this… It’s all about choices. Your sister is trusting you while she sleeps as you are going along at 80 mph! There could be all kinds of scenarios!!! Texting and driving is just wrong :0(

All is well- I am home safe and sound  it’s feeling awful Christmas-y!

When they say that those students offered admissions are also mailed a copy of the admission letter on december 15th, does that mean you would get a letter in the mail on the 15th or that they will send it out the 15th?

The email goes out on the Friday before the 15th- so the 10th this year. I think they probably mail the letter on the 15th.

Good, Courtney! I am glad all is well :0) It’s also feeling like Christmas here! It’s at least cool compared to being in the 80’s last week!

Wow, this place has really gotten busy since last night. :o

Since I was on last, I have now finished applying to the CSUs and UCs. I’m scared. Stanford and Pepperdine are all that are left. As much as I want to move out and become independent, it’s strange thinking that, as long as I’m accepted anywhere, I’ll be somewhere totally different next year. Technically I’m already an adult since I’m 18, but it’s crazy.

Do you guys want to be independent? How’s that idea in your head? :P

PS: I MUST correct myself. I keep saying guys but it seems as though more and more of you are declaring that you’re women. Haha. Sorry!

IM A WOMANNNNNNNNNNNNNN

2177 hehehehehhe

You know what? We really need more testosterone on this thread.

I would think Yale probs has more boys but thats just a guess

There are probably a good deal of guys around here (including myself), but we’re not as prolific posters as you girls are.

Well, tell us about yourself then! I swear, there are only like three or so boys who post. And Sarba is 12 hours off of us because he lives in Nepal, so he’s never on when we’re on. And this weekend Jason is at the Ritz with no internet. AND NOW WE HAVE NO BOYS AND TOO MANY GIRLS.

I agree with JoJoMan18. I’m a guy, I haven’t posted as much as some of the girls here. Plus, I’ve been sleeping and watching football all day.

Whoa! No way, I’m a guy. Geez! I’m pretty disappointed though that you addressed my closing statement rather than my actual questions!

Sorry, Sleeet. I suppose the idea of meeting men is more exciting than the idea of being independent, to be honest ;)

Anyways, to answer your question… I can feel myself becoming more and more ready to go off on my own next summer. I’m not quite ready yet, but I think I will be. I’m definitely going to be far away from home (not applying to any colleges in state), so it’s going to be a big change… Especially since I’m a princess who doesn’t do laundry or clear her bathroom!

Also, how often will you guys get the chance to go home once you’re in college? My parents will probably fly me (the shortest drive from a college I’m applying to is 8 hours) home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and summer break, but that’s about it. If I’m lucky they might bring me home an extra time in the spring.

I’ll be coming home next year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don’t know about the summer though, hopefully I’d find an internship to do or something to pass the time.

Ahaha. Of course. Well I’m excited to be surrounded for the most part then! Haha!

To be honest, I can’t wait. It’s just time to stop being restricted. It’s not that my parents are terribly strict, but I’ve always been limited in a way when in their presence. It’ll still be strange to be living on my own though. I really like the idea of being surrounded by people my own age a good deal of the time. Just seems really invigorating.

Well, if I get accepted into Stanford crosses fingers then I would definitely be able to go home for breaks no matter which one it is. However, if not and I decide to go to school in Southern California, then I’ll likely only visit for Christmas unless I get a vacation days - limited job.

If I get into Stanford, I’d probably be home for Christmas and Thanksgiving Break. I might head home in the summer, if I didn’t get an internship or research opportunity.
