*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Honestly my biggest stress reliever has been going out. Weekends are the best! And this site is soo hilarious yet stress relieving at the same time…weird

i don’t do quarter grades, but i think i’m holding up fine. IT’s rough though.

Oh minniemouse I don’t know how you do it! I find that when I go out now, all I want to think/talk about is Stanford! My friends are SICK of it!

Well, in first quarter half my grades were Bs and the other half were As, but I’ve always started slow, and I know i’ll get an A by the end of the semester…but thinking about Stanford doesn’t help at all.

I can totally relate. At times i’ve felt a bit weird for being seemingly overachieving compared to some of my classmates

This makes perfect sense and is exactly how I feel.

I’ve been pretty stressed because my countyoffail switched to a new method of reporting grades this year (quarterly percentages that are averaged into a letter grade at the end) that is really confusing, both about what colleges will see and how my GPA is calculated. English is really murdering me, too. Other than that, though, everything is good. I’m looking forward to the point where I either get into Stanford or complete the first semester (whichever comes first/at all…) so I can get back into the swing of playing my clarinet, writing satire, arguing, and developing senioritis with the help of computer games.

On the other hand, practically everybody at my school expects me to get in here, and I have absolutely no idea how I am going to explain it when I don’t.

Edit: ^^ This definitely happens to me too. My best friend is probably on the verge of stabbing me with her elbows (she’s really skinny, so this is a legitimate threat…)

Edit II: (stop posting so fast D: ) ^ I feel like this a lot of the time too… :(

My friends and I tend to talk about college admissions in general rather than where we are applying specifically. Basically that’s all anyone talks about at school (we’re really competitive). I have a column in the local newspaper and I wrote about the stress of college apps and how nobody can stop talking about college. As for my friends… they’re sick of me talking about my experiences as an exchange student over the summer…I talk about my trip way toooooo much :P

AP Span Lit is NOT a hard class, miss little mousey friend. It’s about how well you can BS in a different language.

@sleazebreeze
Well, no shizz sherlock.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I guess when you’re the kid who sets the curve, and has the highest grades, etc, most people will just expect you to end up at a place like Stanford without realizing how difficult it is to get there. But at the same time, its humbling to have people believe in you like that, at least for me it is

omg I can totally relate. The worst is… “Don’t you have legacy there? and your grades are amazing. You’ll definitely get in” ---->ummmm no Stanford is impossible

Must have been a great trip. Where was it, exactly?

People think i’m being humble when i say i most likely wont’ get in. I’m like no, i’m serious, i won’t!!!

@crmichi it’s not hard it’s just a lot of reading to do

^^ This. THIS.

Yeah, I mean I have a divided audience.
Half of my friends are like well with your legacy you HAVE to get in.
Half of them are like… it’s Stanford, even our valedictorians get rejected (and end up at Harvard)

I went to Chile! It was literally the best summer of my life I miss it soo much and that’s why I can’t shut up about it

Well I hope you guys are doing alright and getting through everything without too many problems! I had to give in and make an appointment with a therapist because the anxiety was too much…

CHILEEEEEEEEEE is awesome. I’m from Chile actually, my whole dad’s family resides there. Where in Chile did you go?

@minnie
it’s called an online analysis

Coyhaique! where’s he from? I might go back in the spring for a month

^^ Sorry to butt in, but are you seriously this irritating in real life? And if you are, could you please confine it to real life, and take it off our thread? You’re not even applying REA. You got in last year. Scoot.

^ I’m confused who’s that directed at
