*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

@ crmichi: How can you criticize Twilight so harshly and then put a Stephanie Meyer Book on your list? Seems hypocritical to me.
@Harambee: I think they take more time reading it and you get your decision earlier, here’s their email:

I had a bunch of favorite books: Slaughterhouse-Five, Heart of Darkness,…
I also listed Douglas Adams as a favorite author

Don’t worry about Twilight, I put FoodPornDaily as a favorite website… -__- and I completely regret that now… if only it had a less offensive website title

That’s an interesting site but I can’t imagine spending more than 10 seconds every day on it

Thanks gtlane. I have nearly everything done. I was planning on submitting it after Dec. 10, but I guess I can do that earlier now

Holy **** that site looks delicious.

Haha well if you want to stare at food I suggest [Food Gawker](<a href=“most favorited last month | foodgawker”>most gawked last week | foodgawker)

@Harambee
good idea

Hey everyone! My friend just told me about this site, so I’m brand new here, and of course, I made a beeline for the Stanford section (I applied REA this year). Everyone here seems pretty nice and supportive so far. Anyway, I’m getting super nervous for December 15! My sister applied early two years ago and got rejected, and we have really similar stats. I’m bracing myself for a similar outcome, but praying that my arts supplement will push me over the top.

On a different note, I would hope admissions officers aren’t going to take those short answer questions too seriously. I put The Oatmeal as one of my websites :)

^Haha, I love The Oatmeal. My English teacher actually used it a few times in class

Hi citylights141! :slight_smile: Where are you from?

Hi! I’m from Pennsylvania. Where’s everyone else from?

Twilight is like junk food. It’s good to eat as long as you don’t think about a) what’s in it and b) what will happen to you if you consume it too often.

For the books thing, I put in English as She is Spoke, The Plague, The Eyre Affair, The Princess Bride, Sandman, and The Thief. Now that I go back and look at it, I probably should have put in more intellectual stuff. XD

Nice to meet you, citylights. :)

omgggggggggg guys I’m dying here this wait is so long. Idk how I’m gonna make it to April

@minniemouse didn’t you apply REA?

haha yup! But I’m just imagining the wait for all my other schools when I can’t even wait til three weeks from now :P

Ahhh I see LOL. Well don’t worry. At least you’ll know your Stanford decision within three weeks. I’ll be waiting till ~ April for that haha. But I see what you mean. Of course you might not have to worry at all after three weeks from now… if… ;D

I feel your pain, minniemouse! We all do :frowning: It’s scary to think that, if rejected, we won’t find out about any other school until April. So far away!

It also sucks because I don’t have the willpower to put as much work into my other apps as I did into my Stanford app. So if I don’t get into Stanford, I’m probably not going anywhere good…

@whoever’s username was dissing my book taste:
The Host creates a new world and a brand new concept with an exciting plot. Not hormone-high teenage fantasies. It’s probably too mature for you to understand

@ Gtlane- don’t be too offended by Michelle. She’s mean to most people, if it makes you feel better ;)
