CC makes me feel like I’m not going to college unless I get a 2400/4.0

^cc makes me feel like I’m not going to college even if I have that and started my own business and run a charity and play 3 varsity sports and know chuck norris

It’s so depressing! What gets you motivated? I need to crank out like three apps over Thanksgiving break

rush - that does not guarantee an admission in Stanford either. Over the years, I have seen several really great students turned down by Stanford in SCEA because Stanford SCEA process rejects 80% of the students unlike the Ivies. It is a brutal process.

Going to college is an entirely different story if you are not stuck on one college. Spread your wings, spend sometime working on your other apps and don’t pin your hopes on a single college.

Texas: I know, I’m kind of joking around. Thanks for the information though :)

I think it’s time to jump in on this conversation! How are we doing, eagerly anticipating 22 days from now?

Anyone who thinks they have 50%+ is either a recruited athlete or delusional. Sorry, but none of us have more than a 25% chance. And from reading admission books, it is easier to get into Harvard or Yale based on scores and grades than Stanford.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Stanford. But I think it is a very bad idea to have our hopes up – will lead to much suffering.

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
So don’t fear getting rejected by Stanford!

I give myself about a 15% chance, with perfect grades, perfect AP scores, 99%+ SATs, 2 varsity letters every year, etc., etc.

PS – I’m not going to read all your stats. Nothing personal, but I think it just would be a negative use of time. I’d rather read your short answers, thoughts on music, etc.

If anyone knows Silverturtle, he or she was rejected from Stanford.

@mba: Why is everyone interpreting my posts wrong? That was exactly what I was trying to say.

Maybe we’re just all tensed up a bit? Oh well. What’s everyone doing for Thanksgiving break? I have a semi-formal dinner party tonight and having some family over later this week.

[I don’t know how to quote previous posts, haha]

“And from reading admission books, it is easier to get into Harvard or Yale based on scores and grades than Stanford.”

Is this true? At my school, it seems like it’s a lot easier to get into Stanford than HYPM - we get maybe 5-8 acceptances every year at Stanford, compared to 1-4 for HYPM during good years.

batfan where is your school? because i also heard that its harder to get into stanford than HYPM. but if your in california that might make a difference

I’m in SoCal, and I’m pretty sure we have more HYPM admits than Stanford.

Sorry but what is HYPM?

Harvard-Yale-Princeton-MIT

^harvard yale princeton MIT

New to CC… So excited/nervous for Stanford decision!!! 22 days or less…

Not in CA, but closer to CA than the East Coast, if that helps. I guess my school’s just different? This makes me a whole lot more anxious!

i might just apply to harvard because i can since there are no supplemental essays. i think i should be good for my cornell and that is my 2nd choice at this point so all is chill

^ Optional essay… I feel like you need to do EVERYTHING you can to boost your application. Especially for Harvard.
